Henry Gale - Physics Connection

I wasn't even looking for Henry Gale. I was looking for an old physics book so I was very surprised to see the name Henry Gale...   but there it was - in a physics book printed early in the 20th century. Since LOST has recently taken a turn deep into the world of physics and science fiction, might the writers have actually chosen the name from the physics professor: Henry Gordon Gale? Certainly, we've heard a few other names on the show from the world of physics - like Faraday & Casimir. Maybe Henry Gale is yet another. Then again, maybe he's just Dorothy's uncle on the Wizard of Oz.
