Daniel Faraday made a reference to the time flashes being like a record skipping.....
Think about the record constantly spining and the "wheel" playing the realities experienced on the island. Now imagine if someone changes the "speed" of the record player... like Ben or Locke moving the wheel. If the island is a 45 speed and Locke moved it to 78 speed then the AXIS is tilted resulting in warp playing... like flashes.
Plus some records, like Sgt. Pepper by the Beatles are made to loop.
PLUS, this is a stretch, think about the middle of the record that doesn't get played. It is constant and unchangable but in constant motion. Now just suspend your mind and think about space and time. Could the island be played as a record at such a velocity that it distorts time (see atomic clock test)? There would also need to be a point like the middle that doesn't get played but constantly moves.
Remeber when Hurley say the cabin and ran away then the cabin was back in front of him? Could the island be spinning around that location (or the location of the wheel cause I'm just crazy theorizing). If that's the case then the island was spinning around Hurley instead of Hurley spinning around the island.
Does this make sense? I smoked too much!
