I think Michael is Ben's spy on the boat. Think about it. Ben gave him a bearing to follow, which could have easily been to the boat. This would also explain why Walt is now back on the island. Ben never said that he has talked to his spy so he could be waiting to use him, which means that Michael might not even know that he is the spy. Sure my theory has some weak points, but whoose doesn't?
Also, does anyone have any ideas about the white/black thing? If you don't know what I'm talking about then I will explain. White and black have benn popping up TOGETHER throughout the history of the show. 1). when they go to the caves there is a black and white stone in the pouch that the skeleton had. 2). during the dream when claire finds locke in the jungle with aaron already in the cradle, notice that one of his eyes is white and the other is black. 3). when charlie *sniff* is having the dream where claire is repeatedly telling him to save the baby, notice that two doves fly over them one is white and the other is black. 4). locke makes a big emphasis on the backgammon pieces being white and black while explaining it to walt.

This is a good theory. I actually haven't noticed the whole "black & white" thing before, but I am sure it has something to do with good vs. evil. The whole show seems to be based upon the uncertainty of whether characters are "good" or "evil", hence, "black" or "white." As of this point, I really cannot be sure who to trust. Especially when it comes to Ben, and figuring out whether or not he's a good or bad person.

That's very interesting. Also, back during the days of black and white movies, in westerns the good guys wore white and the bad guys wore black.

The spy could also be this minkowski guy. That would explain why when Daniel asked to borrow the sat phone, frank told him to hang up in minkowski answered.

When I first read the Michael as spy theory, I thought it was so obvious it made perfect sense. But having just rewatched all three seasons of Lost, so that my wife could get caught up in preparation for season four, I can't figure out when Ben could have convinced Michael to be his spy. It seems that they only met for the few seconds it took Michael to shoot himself in the shoulder, and for the minute or so before Michael and Walt left on the boat. What other time would it have been possible for Michael and Ben to talk, and for that matter, why would Michael have worked with Ben once he was out of his control?
Having said all that, the Michael as spy theory led me to my own theory as to who the spy is. Who else has Ben sent away recently, who he did have time to talk to--presumably several days at least? That's right, Walt.

My personal thought is that Michael did not make it very far befor his boat was intercepted.
Ben does not seem to let anyone go that easy.

What about Richard Alpert? Let's not forget that he is a very important member of the Others, I remember reading that the creators said he is the one who appointed Ben as leader. Also, I just read an interview with the creators and they mentioned him, along with Michael, as now being free to return to the show after obligations to other shows. It seems like this is the perfect time for him to re-emerge and perhaps we'll finally learn more about him.

Ohhh....and Jacka nd Claire are brother and sister....one has dark hair, the other light.
That may be a stretch, but I thought it was worth mentioning...no idea if it means anything, just intresting anyways.
