I know it's been bounced around but I would like to propose a twist.

We all know how present game references are in the series!
-Backgammon
-Chess
-Operation
-Mouse Trap
-Baseball
-Golf
-Ping Pong

the list goes on and on

it has been suggested here and there (http://www.lostisagame.com/)
but what if we have overlooked something. all games need players!!!

Jacob & Dude Man chillin on a beach playing a game on the island that's our story; we've heard this but this is the sticky part.

What if Dude Mand and Jacob can do nothing BUT play the game and the whole "I wanna kill you" is actually (excuse the paraphrase) "we need to find replacement players b/c we should have never opened that damn box!)

What if they are LOST. They are STUCK. They play this game over and over and over, but it can only end ONCE! for them! They need to decieve two into becomeing the replacement. So in playing the "build" apprentinces in Jack and Locke (for leadership arguments) and LONG CON them into assuming their ancient role!

So the series ends something like Locke eating fish on the beach looking at the Black Rock; JAck walks up and they repeat all familar dialogue and <GONG> that's it!

Not likely, I don't entirely believe it myself but it might create a buzz...

For what it's worth, I wouldn't like it if the show ended like that. I would like to see some deeper meaning behind all this, so that the hardship losties suffer is justified. I would feel cheated if it turned out that Jacob and MiB were just looking for replacement players.

I do believe that this whole situation between the Jacob and MiB is like a game to them - that they don't take it as seriously, in a sense that they are not impacted emotionally by the hardship their actions/playing cause.

I wouldnt like that ending either. Now if JL was on the beach and a nice pig roast was going than that would be more exciting. JL a fisherman? Noway he is a hunter.
On a serious not though when jacob made the comment about it only "ends once" led me to believe that when he proves his point to beach boy than its complete and beach boy will be proven wrong. And whatever happens before that is just leading up to Jacobs point. It seems that beach boy does things to create an enviroment(and I am not speaking about weather) that would have Jacob fail every time. Maybe that is why he asked Ilana for help and why he visited the Losties because he knew they would do well for his purpose.

Indeed, "what about them!?" The game goes on and on. I am suggesting they need replacement players as a possibility more than an actual theory. Truth be told I have many thoughts and I have been right about some things but not many.

I still think it would be kinda chilling if it was our two leaders on the beach starting a new game.

Ok, what if it was Jack as Jacob and Locke as beach boy?

Perhaps the ending wouldn't be a pleasure but it would be kinda fitting. With John's whole purpose and love for games; Jack's blindness in his purpose and fate (scentless apprentice by Nirvana in Jack's jeep).

I make no claims this will happen, just a fleeting thought

i would like to hope that the writers have a better ending that us seeing a scene already happened (eye opening, beach scene etc...) happening again, with or without the same people originally involved. that seems to contrived.

BD I agree with you. My post was more a joke than anything but when explaiing how they all die which we know since RA told us he saw them all diei, was something passed around at the time of the episode.
