pilot episode smoke monster

hey guys I've been reading these post for a while and this is my first tme on here, so please take it easy on me!! I'm sure someone has brought this up before but I couldn't find it when i searched for it.
In the pilot episode if you slow down the DVD right before the turbine engine
blows up you can see the smoke monster swoop in and blow it up, could this be the thing we have all been missing that tptb have said? Once again I apologize
if this has been said before. Also I'm looking forward to talking to all of you guys about my favorite show!!!

As far as your posting, well, I think that it was really all rumor that TPTB said we missed something in the first epi. I think that I also heard on the commentary on a DVD that there was something in that shot you mentioned but it wasn't supposed to be there. Something along those lines. They also have said that smokie does not appear in the first episode. I hope that helps! We may never really know though! lol!!!

Hey Notso, from what I rememeber hearing or seeing was that yes we see something swoop down over the engine but TPTB said it was only a CGI error.

Come to think about it have we ever seen Smokey on the beach? I mean I think I have seen it but in the form of the beach boy/iLocke(which I think you said you dont accept that theory)but for my sake of argument, and Rousseau's husband bf whatever he was(the one we see her shoot right between the eyes.

Well, we did see, or actually hear, smokie in the bushes by the Pala Ferry when Sun and Frank got there. The trees started to shake around and they made it pretty obvious that it was smokie. You are right, I think that smokie is its own entity....a third party if you will. As for Rousseau, I think Danielle was not all there before she even stepped off the raft....and then all that stuff happened in front of her pregnant eyes and she went completly off the deep end.....

Oh no I am not disagreeing with that at all. We heard it in the first episode right off the beach. I mean literally on the beach in the sand. It might go back to needing the undeground tunnels as suggested sometime back

I think it has something to do with the ocean...the water. There is definitly something going on with smokie and water.

we have see nSmokey appear as 3 distinct smoke clouds when it approached the sonic fence in the epi I think called "Left behind"

Maybe we never see smokie on the beach because of the sand...
If the ring of ash around the cabin acts as a barrier as some ppl would argue (either to keep in or keep out) perhaps on a macro-level the sand on the beach acts as a barrier with the island representing the cabin

probably due to budget cuts.

Really? When it was there judging Ben it came through the floor and I thought it was making those sounds. Guess I will have to rewatch it

The noise that smokie makes, to me sounds very similiar to the nose in the Incident when Juliette is being wrapped in chain and pulled down. Maybe the Incident somehow created smokie?

Well its believed it protects the Temple and the Temple was their before the "Incident" since Ben was a boy when he went to the Temple and also Rousseaus Team was there supposedly before the Incident and we saw what happened to her team and Smokey.

That sub was great.
I could have made a sub out of paper mache and do a lock ness monster type of hoax that would have looked better than that.
