I don't know if this has been noticed before or not, but I thought It was funny.
So in the episode where Jack, Kate and " Locke " meet Desmond for the first time in the hatch, they showed something that was either a mistake or wierd clue, I tend to think it wa a mistake. Desmond had clothes in the washer and dryer, the washer and dryer were front loading energy efficient models!! WTF!!! Anyway, I just thought it was funny, I hadn't noticed it before!!

The rules don't apply to Desmond.

Front loading washers have been around a long time. Not usually for home use, but laundramats and hotel laundry rooms have had them for decades. It was usually for bigger loads, or large blankets, etc. Front loaders have, in the last few years become 'the' washer now for homes - they do a good job and save water. So I think the ones in the hatch may have may have been more "institutional" washers than new ones there by mistake. :)

Been discussed many times before. TPTB made a mistake but laughed it off.

The front load washer/dryer for the home was in the Swan Station which in the 70's was not available. Thats why Notso said it was a mistake and TPTB had laughed it off

Ah ha, right, that makes sense... I wasn't thinking that the machines were put there in the 70s, duh, even though the stations were created then. My bad. Thank you.

For the same reason the professor on Gilligan's Island couldnt repair the damage to the ship but was able to make radios ot of coconuts and pee.(little exaggeration but you ge the point)

Who says they brought the washer from the U.S.? I've never known any other machine than the front loading one. Granted I was not around in the 70s, but I know that we in Serbia only recently got access to the top loading washer. So that scene was not funny for me in the least. Never even noticed it.

Who says that everything from the Swan has to be from the 70's??
Dharma was still running up to 92', so why couldn't the Swan have just gotten a new machine then.

And as far as Radzinski and Kelvin where concerned, it seems that they still thought that Dharma was on the go. Maybe they got the washer in with one of their food drops.

Radsinski-"If they don't send us a new washer, I swear I'll shoot myself in the head."
Kelvin throws blanket over new washer, "Nope, nothin' yet boss."

That is true but TPTB have already acknowledged the good. and that was funny the Rad and Kelvin scene.

This actually was addressed on the show. When Libby and Hurley were doing laundry in the Hatch Libby said to Hurley "Is it me or does this washer seem newer than everything else?" So I think that TPTB addressed the issue in the sense that "yes" they are newer. My guess is that the supply drops also drop other items in addition to food for the swam participants....my question is....why are the drops still happening? If the DI is gone, shouldn't they stop? Ann Arbor has to know that the hostiles took over and that there are no DI folk left (except for the ones that went rogue like Ben and Ethan). Also the Lamp Post was a DI station but now is manned by Ms. Hawking. Is she possibly still continuing some of the DI's off island activities....who knows. I doubt this question will get resolved.

I agree, I don't think they will address the drops
