View Full Version : What if Richard is John Locke's true biological father?

This was a theory I happened to come across and found it quite interesting:
Did anyone else watch the hospital scene and think that Richard is his biological father? It would explain soooo much. Remember, Locke’s mom was dating someone “twice her age” and Locke’s grandmother acted like she recognized Richard. She also had Locke adopted. This could explain Locke’s powers.
Locke’s father – the one that we’ve seen all along – might not really be his father. Maybe he just conned Locke to get his kidney.
(Don’t even get me started on the parallels between Locke drawing Smokey as a young boy and Starbuck drawing the cloud as a young girl on Battlestar. I think both shows are about time loops.)

It is definitely possible the con man tricked Locke into thinking he was his father. And that would explain in a very simple way why Richard was at his birth. Sounds like a good theory to me. With a lot of the other people having had parents on the island it would really fit in.

ya, as I keep thinking about it, my brain keeps putting "plausible" in my thought process. I'm defnately going to do some more research on this theory. ;)

It's also possible that Richard was at John's birth because John told him 2 years earlier (while traveling in time) the place and date were he was born and invited Richard to visit him.....all in an effort to prove that he was in fact timetravelling......;)

Exactly. This was shown towards the end of season 5. Nothing to see here...

I thought RA showed up at JL's birth because JL time skipped on the Island and told RA that he will be born on certain time and place and if RA didnt beleive him to show up a tthat time.

last night I felt compelled to watch the episodes where locke and richard interact. no way this theory can be plausible in my mind anymore but it was an interesting one to do some searching on!
what else is there to do on this show besides waiting for the final season? :(

I agree Phoenix. Nothing wrong with speculation! And who's to say Richard didn't go back in time (because John sent him back) and "did the deed" with Locke's Mom? It could've happened, right? It would make sense if a specific bloodline was required for leadership!

In this theroy, would RA already know Locke was his son, cause in 1977 when he meets Jack, he tells him that he doesn't see anything special about Locke. Jack tells him not to give up on him yet. Which brings up another point, why is Richard so surprised to see Locke return in '07 and asks where he's been. Wouldn't he gave an idea that he was traveling through time if he saw him in 53

true, but then it showed how Richard didn't really believe Locke when he told him to go tell himself he had to die. so maybe the shock factor was the fact he was actually delivering a message from Locke to Locke. lol it can get confusing! :o

Actually, I think that Essau (Jacob's brother) is really John's father.
