WHA??? oh no! here" www.damoncarltonandapolarbear.com
its the "arg" but really just an art project. darlton commissioned 16 artists to produce 16 one of a kind edition lost posters, each released one at a time for purchase by lost fans. they are released through clues. the first one to purchase each poster gets a special gift. the locke poster sold out very quickley. it was released at johnny cupcakes store in boston. Johnny cupcakes is a cultish popular clothes maker for skateboard types. he also carved 8 dhrama stake boards. the first person who ordered the locke print got one of those rare skate boards.
today at 4pm pacific, 7pm eastern on AOTS on G4 the next "website" - i.e. print will be released. its really fun to follow. there are actual parties involved and websites and tv shows, and lord know what else to come.

Oddly enough, when this DJ AM died the other day, my friend associated him with Nicole Richey, but I kept saying "that's the guy from the LOST party."
Strange coincidence, him surviving a plane crash.
(only to overdose, such a shame.)

very sad indeed...and creepy. think course correction. his plane crash was in September 2008 too. whats worse is that he was in recovery for many, many years and recently filmed a special for MTV about addiction where he went to help youngster kick the habit. he met with a girl who smoked crack and they showed a clip of him buying a crack pipe to make a point to her, and saying that his heart started to race and his palms got sweaty and that this was not good for him. and then, a few weeks later... terribly sad.
he did date richie, thats how he got to be DJ to the stars.

well neither the first poster nor the new one today are sold out yet. they are limited edition prints that will very likely, if not certainly, be collectors items. they are 50 bucks plus shipping, but they are only 18 x 24. otherwise there are some pretty great ones here, and big too: http://www.moviegoods.com/movie_poster/lost_tv_2004.htm

I just did... and um, no offense, but that's pretty stupid. I mean, you can save the pic and print it for yourself. Sure, it wouldn't be signed, but whatever. And it takes 3-4 weeks to deliver... IDK, all this consumer attacks in the name of the show really bugs the hell out of me!

collectors items. but, i think many people feel like you. others are enjoying it. i have to say, I think that TPTB intended to do something good and fun for the audience. they are definitely NOT making money on this. I think all the ads for the "game" is costing money as well as paying the artists etc. It is marketing. it is viral. but, its not intended to make money on the fans. its just an attempt to memorialize the pop culture with the pop art. but, for europe the shipping is pretty heft.
i still think there is a lot more going on here. we just have not cracked it yet. the typos that are never fixed. the pics that seem like clues but are not. i cannot get past the sensation that there is another level to this. but, it has yet to be discovered. and, of course, i can be wrong.
oh, and it has not been taking 3-4 weeks to get the prints. people are generally getting them in a few days. and the first to place an order for each print, gets that special one of a kind lost something.

I see what you're saying Rachelskid, I just never really felt propelled to buy dolls or posters for any TV show, film or whatnot. But that's just me. Others can do what they like...
But what's that you say about typos? Typos where?

well, i am not sure how much you know? have you seen the paul scheer video and know the title of episode 6 x01/02? there was a lot of stuff on paul's blog that looked like games, anagrams, etc. however, they were never cracked and then the blog turned into damoncarltonandapolarbear.com
"so, now, when you click on "HUB" this is what it says at the top:
So, these are "hints." Some will lead to physical places, some just take you to another website. But the end result, a.k.a. the coolest part of the fun, can be achieved just by s taying in your house. No need to stand up, get dressed and start flailing your arms to your waiting car, because everyone will have a chance to get to the end result, as long a s you're online and stay tuned to this website. We'll give you everything you need to know... and soon."
note the space between the "a" and the "s" in "as" and the space between the "s" and the "t" in "staying." note the language too. "flailing your arms to your waiting car," really?
then, when you click on the poster, it says:
In celebration of LOST's final season and as a project of fan appreciation, 16 top designers and artists, who are also fans of the show, were commissioned to create artwork celebrating one of the series' most memorable, and unforgettable, "water cooler" moments. This ultimate "fan art" was then turned into labor intensive, hand-pulled screen prints, limited to an edition of just 300, with less than 200 available to the public through our websites. Each beautiful poster tells its own different story, allowing the fan to relive memorable and influential moments in an artistic manner, as the show's storied run comes to a close. Once this limited edition print has sold out, they will never be printed again. Celebrate the fandom, community and family created by one of televisions' greatest shows by hanging a little part of it's history, inspiration and influence on your wall.
Please allow 3-4 weeks delivery. No edition number requests can be fulfilled and each print will be shipped individually, so we can cannot combine shippi ng costs. Due to the fragile nature of hand-applied screen printing, these posters are promised in mint to near mint condition. Small differences in coloring and ot her minor defects are part of the uniqueness of these art pieces. Due to the limited nature o f this project, here will be no refunds, exchanges or replacements. now, these could be typos, but they have never been fixed. other mistakes have been fixed. like the first two times prints came up, there would be an extra frame, but within a few hours it would disappear. these mistakes have not been fixed in all these weeks. they are discussed, and analyzed, but they are not fixed. odd.
and, i do not want to tell you the title of the first epi of season six in case you are not into spoilers, but it has something to do with a space between letters.

No, I'm not into spoilers. And I have no idea who's Paul Sheer, but that's ok, you don't have to explain. I guess I just don't think about Lost that much in depth. I like the show, I enjoy its mysteries and everything else, but I don't really think of it as mystery in itself that needs to be solved. I know some people will feel offended by what I wrote, but that is not my intention. I just wanted to state that I am not such a big addict, and that IMO, Lost is not the best show to hit the TV. Hope I don't get crucified for saying this.
I guess I shouldn't have posted on this thread in the first place - just like people who are offended by semi-nudity shouldn't go to boob and butt thread.

Hey, I am a Lost a geek, but I don't care for memorabilia or collector's items. What did I write in the "shallow thinkers thread" that applies here? I forget.
Rachelskid, you're actually right, fanaticism of any kind doesn't sit well with me. :D
Do the super fans drive you crazy? Or do you consider yourself to be one of those? LoL

well I've purchased a few books just because they were mentioned on Lost but I like to think that was more because Lost interested me in the book rather than I just wanted everything to do with Lost. Still, I am a sucker for product placement ads too I guess. I don't care cause I liked the books...
but yeah, I'm into games until they start asking me for money. They're collectors items so supposedly they could be worth something someday? That artwork is hideous though. Either way I'm not going to buy it because a) I'm cheap and b) do you know how much alcohol that could buy me?

No crucifixion, here...
What do you think was/is the best show? :)
Honest question, because I've tried to come up with something else that I could watch over, and over, and never get tired of it.
I think it's due to the characters, I find myself (re)discovering things that I overlooked... I'm actually really turning into a big Sawyer fan, lately. Never though that'd happen.
Maybe I'm worse than some, but I can pretty much watch an episode each day.

i can watch an episode everyday, and usually do. needless to say, I LOVE sawyer. I actually think he has been and continues to be the most genuine character and the best person. even with all the wrongs he has committed. not to mention some of the best one liners.

Don't get me wrong, I love Lost, and I could watch 5 episodes in a row, but I'm not addicted in that way that I will buy things related to it you know (books included).
The best show? For me, there's a tie. It's Seinfeld and Homicide:Life on the street. Two completely different shows, but both masterpieces that I can watch over and over. Currently, I'm watching The Wire, and I can't say with certainty since I've only started second season - but it's a brilliant show - one of the best I've ever watched - so it will probably be added to the above mentioned shows once I watch all five seasons.
And Sawyer is one my favorite characters too (he shares the pedestal with Sayid, as well as Eko) - not because of his looks, but because he has the most depth. I love it when a character goes through so much development, when he rises above himself and reaches the next level. That's why I don't like Jack - I find him to be too superficial, selfish and spoiled.
rachelskid
09-03-2009, 06:03 AM
yes, sawyer is the best all around. I know he started out "shady" by most standards. but, i have always thought he was the best person, as in a really good person underneath it all.
the wire is incredible. second season is great. the last season is my favorite. check out mad men next if you have not yet seen it.
Jelena
09-03-2009, 06:19 AM
no, rach, I have not seen or even heard of mad men.
I only started on the second season of the wire - watched the first episode yesterday. Did you ever watch Homicide, rach?
rachelskid
09-03-2009, 07:08 AM
I did watch it. But, I was so much younger then. Actually, looking back, I can see how homicide and the wire have some things in common - besides just baltimore. I should rent the DVD's and re-watch it.
Mad men is a new(ish) show, the same writer as the sopranos, and the show is about the American advertising business in new york in the 1950's and 60's. very, very, very good. its not surprising it has a million award nominations. the third season only just started.
Jelena
09-03-2009, 08:36 AM
Both Homicide and The Wire were created by the same man, that's why the two are so similar. But for me, those are the best shows ever, cause they're intelligent, they're not sappy, and anything can happen - no character is spared.
