It was Ok, It didn't grab my attention or interest that much, it seems like yet another demographically made TV show. Nicely shot and directed but with no real visual signature. A pilot should make you want to watch the next show, sorry, but I'm just not bothered. It would be nice if producers could, just for once, NOT make a show about the FBI, its so incredibly stale now. The reactions of the characters to the situation annoyed me. ( no I'm not American so sorry if I offend here ) It just seemed to play into the perceived American paranoia of terrorist attacks, which worked well in Lost 5/6 years ago, but now just seems, to me, enough already!! How many time's are we going to see stupid bystanders screaming for revenge? Its a state of mind which is particularly prominent in American film as of the last 10 years and has become boring. Its going to play out like all the other 'new' shows made in the wake of Lost, like fringe, little clues each week building up to a 'bigger' picture. From the evidence, so far, its going to be the most 'soapy' of the lot. I'm prepared to watch the next episode or two, pray for that 'walkabout' episode to kick in soon or it will be off my list of downloads pretty quickly.

Good post, Mattyboy.
I actually thought the opposite a bit... I didn't feel any anger, or need for revenge.
There was no real "freak out." I mean, sure the opening was pretty wild, I guess...
It seemed like no big deal, I was waiting for someone to ask "hey, what's for lunch?" :D
(the biggest 'eye roll' came when Mark got home... the babysitter was just waiting patiently, and 'the wife asks how was your day, dear.')
The storyline will get better, from what I've read. And we will actually pass the April 29th date before the season is done.
The real meat is supposedly in season 2. (If it makes it.)

This show definately didn't have the shock factor like LOST had. ;) However, I didn't notice some similarities between the two shows on how they focus on one or two characters at a time. I really liked the randomly placed Oceanic flight billboard. That grabbed my attention immediatley lol. Im definately going to watch the second episode to see what other placed LOST objects there will be. muahahaha! I like that a lot of actors and actresses in this show are people that I know! They have a pretty good cast in this show. I really hope this show does well.

I wasn't to big on Lost through the first couple of eps. took 3-4 into it before I said that it might be worth watching.
I liked the FF pilot. I agree with Mattyboy in some respects that some plot devices are geting stagnant. It was pretty hyped up, and I hope it does well.

It wasn`t just about FBI involvment. It was a world wide event that effected the entire world. All people will connect in some shape or form. Only one person`s vision can open a new door to another person`s vision. It didn`t have anything to do with a terrist act. Atleast not yet maybe. We don`t know if it was a natrual event or brought on by supernatural causes. Just because you see one Joe blow awake durring the phenomical event doesn`t mean humans created the event. They just knew of some of the orgins "Seemenly" Iv seen many aspects of time travel and premintions in shows. So im keeping an open mind and not just assume the seemenly obviouses senario Freedom fighters vs terrest routeen.

I understand that the 'phenomenon' was a world wide event, that was made clear in the episode. My comments relate to the fact that the FBI, yet again are the 'McGuffin' used to give the characters purpose. No I don't think it was a terrorist attack either, it was the scripts predictability in presenting the immediate reaction as such, which is old and boring now.
'Only one person`s vision can open a new door to another persons vision' I like that and must confess until I read your comment that point had somewhat eluded me, to busy yawning at the cliques.

I thought it was an average pilot. It reminds me a lot of the Fringe premiere from last season in the way that the pilot wasn't anything earth-shattering, but there was a lot of potential. I see the same potential in Flashforward. Hopefully they will find their focus within the next few episodes.
I agree with JfromtheD, the thing that bothered me the most was the ho-hum attitue everyone took in the wake of the biggest disaster humanity has ever seen.

The first 2/3 of the episode really bored me. But, the last 15 mins or so caught my attention. I'll watch it again this week so I hope it gets better.

I guess I've been watching Lost too long so I wonder if the life they were leading before the 2.17 minute freeze was their fake life in a parallel universe--- I know, groan.... and the real life is the one they are living now that is leading up to the events of 4/29/10.. 2.17 minutes to switch over and Clear out the deadwood that would get in the way, leave some in place just long enough to accomplish their purpose, and.... Naaah....

I was telling my wife something simuler the other day. What if the future they saw was what COULD be the future. I was always taught. The future isn`t set in stone. It`s what ever you make of what is delt to you. are you going to let the future consume you and your thoughts? or Are you going to construct the building block "Today/Present" and make a master piece "Tomorrow/Future" and I belive the people of Flashforward will learn this.

I think the problem is when watching these shows we are confusing what we believe from what the show is telling storywise. I personally do not think my future or anyones future is set in stone but we are talking about a tv show not reality so it is possible that the future is already predetermined. I think on Flashforward that there will be some that are not set in stone. I am thinking that the people who are involved in a certain scenario that all have the same vision of the event will have that future but the peoplewho didnt see the same thing in a given scenario will be the ones that can change it. FOr example, Marks wife(cant hink of her name but Penny from Lost) saw herself having a relationship with someone other than Mark. Now we dont know if its and affair or her nad Mark are seperated or whatever. Sure its only a few months in the future but he may become obsessed with finding out who did this and wit hthe stress of that and thinking that his wife is going to cheat on him eventually pulls them apart and they are seperated. Also, if the guy she sees in her vision(sorry forgot his name also) didnt have the same visiion, which at the moment seems to be the case, than maybe that vision isnt set in stone and there are events that lead up to it that are not clear cut. So maybe she soes have an affair but with someone else or no one at all and she is just either seperated from Mark, with ark and unhappy or with Mark and very happy. I am just thinking that this may be why there arent the same visions for some people in the same situation. If he really didnt see himself with her than thats where there is a discrepancy. Just trhoughts ddint really think it through just popped into my head

Dimitiri getting murdered on March 19th 2010. Possible to be changed from your perspective?
Or is he doomed?
Can he pull a Final Destination and lock himself in a room with nothing around him. Will actions such as that detract him from death. "OK it is March 19th 2010. I am destined to die today.....nobody can get me in here!"
Then the murderer blows up the building he is in.....I am guessing that Flashforwards will occur. Dimitri will die, Olivia will be with Dylans Dad, the big boss will give mouth to mouth to the guy in the toilet (that was funny BTW), Mark will be drinking and going out of his melon.............

So far we have an example of someone who didnt see any visions during the black out and she died. So the writers ca nmaybe try to lead us in this direction to mkae us think he will die and he doesnt. I dont know about these people who dont see visions at all. i am speaking about people supposedly in the same situation that arent seeing the same thing. Marks wife sees herself having an affair, so I would expect the guy she is with to have a relationship with her and not sure if he saw that. The other thing is possibly and a slight "possibly" that he has a twin and its not the same guy. OR she could very well be dreaming at the very time these evenets occured. Clearly it took place at night so there are many unknows still

sorry i hadn't seen this thread before. but in answer to the original question, i thought the premier episode was acctually done well, would have liked them to do a 2-hr event after all the hype. that was realy the only major problem i had was trying to cram sooo much in an hr.
as far as grabbing my attention, as soon as they looked around after the blackout at the chaos, mayhem and anarchy, i was caught. just trying to think how i would react was enough to keep watching. as far as the possibilities of what is acctually going to or not going to happen, i think that april 29th is likely going to be yet another flashforward, each getting closer to the answer. but hey, like lost, who knows. lol
