Locke protecting Aaron

In season two when Charlie is always running off with the baby and being a heroin addict, Locke protected the hell out of Aaron. This was even before Charlie was being a dumb guy. Is it possible that Locke somehow knows that Aaron is special and will go the extra mile to protect him and the island?

It's a stretch but I think it might be a possibility.

Prior to re-watching season two, I thought it was off base to call Aaron "special" or "the next in line", but after watching it, I think he is hella special.

I think he was just protecting a baby that Charlie was potentially going to hurt. I didnt think it was anything else. I also think that Locke had just about enough of Charlie's antics that he was concerned for the baby and than proceeded to beat the crap out of him lol enjoyed that part. I hated Charlie

I agree that that is a reason, but I still think there could be a shot that he was "protecting protecting" him.
