The producers of ABC's FlashForward have said the kangaroo has become a significant part of the show's first season: co-creator David S. Goyer says the animal's appearance started out as a simple gag, but it will gain more importance as the show develops.

The 'roo was first seen in the pilot episode, in the aftermath of the blackout in downtown Los Angeles. We saw it again last week, hopping along with trick or treaters.

I wonder if we're going to get a "marsupial-centric" episode...

It sounds like an alternative universe doorway leading directly to the outback and roos keep jumping through... :p

In 'Black Swan' it was shown when the lady prisoner was telling Demitri about the Black Swan, which gives an actual demonstration of 'The Problem of Induction' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Problem_of_induction) - a warning that we should never consider our currently accepted 'knowldege' as certain.

Like it was commonly thought that all swans were white, because until Australia was "discovered" together with black swans, any scientific investigation into determining the colour and distribition of any various colours, in swans, would have found that "all swans are white".
