View Full Version : The submarine

I have a thought about the submarine Locke "supposedly" blew up. I bring this up because it was mentioned again this season by Sayiid. Last season when Locke is on the dock walking towards the submarine, he is dry and you can see the sub clearly sticking out of the water. Later, when Locke is on the dock facing Jack, Juliette and Ben, Locke is soak and wet and you can't see the submarine sticking out of the water at all anymore. Then the explosion occurs.

I hold the theory that Locke may have hid the submarine somewhere underwater and then made an explosion where the sub used to be to make Ben and the Others think the submarine was blown up. Locke keeps saying he has a lot to explain but keeps getting cut off before he can say anything. He does have the interest of the people in mind, maybe the sub is still there and just in hiding? What do you think??

That's interesting, I noticed he was wet, but never thought of him as hiding the sub. I don't know if that is true either. Locke is definitely hiding something, and it doesn't help that he is in eveyrone's dog house. However, I think John has such a strong connection with the island that he doesn't want to leave. He is content stayin on the island. Good point though...will be interesting to see what happens with that.

You might be right. I hold a small theory that after the Others let Michael and Walt go, they recaptured Walt and left Michael to drift. Curiouser and curiouser.

Well they keep bringing back Walt in spirit form....like they do with some of the other dead characters. So does that mean the "others" killed them??

Yah they've already told us in the pod cast that Michael is definitley back this season and they've already introduced Walt to us when he told Locke he had work to do. Whether or not that was Locke's imagination or the island showing him Walt we don't know, but I definitley think they hold a lot of significance to the show still.

I also think Locke does want to stay on the island but I don't think he necessarily wants to keep everyone else there against his own will. He's trying to stop everyone from leaving with the Freighter's because he thinks they're bad people but maybe he has a plan of his own? He keeps saying "we're not supposed to do this" so I'm curious as to what he thinks they ARE supposed to do?? We'll see!

Why was Shannon seeing Walt all wet before Ana Lucia shot her?

thats one good ass theory didnt even think of that, that would be one hell of a twist, it could be pulled off so easy,i wonder when it will come back, i also remember when ben was talking to locke prior to the explosion he said "how do you suppose you will pilot the submarine?" or something like that and locke said "ill figure something out" that hints toward him actually operating it instead of just blowing it to hell, the only thing i cant figure out is locke didnt want anyone to leave the island? maybe he wanted ben to be happy?

good job DZ i like your thoughts

Locke is probably wet from putting the explosives on the sub.

where is the sub at in the picture? I go both ways on this theory about locke blowing up/not blowing up the sub. But another reason why he could be wet is because sub's get really hot when you are in them some of them up to 98 degrees. Just watched a documentary on this a couple of weeks ago on the history channel. Wow I must of been bored.

I think it's suppose to be the shiney long part on the right of the screen.

But I don't know if Locke really has a plan. With Ben razzing him about "you don't know what to do next do you." And how does Locke know they are bad on the freighter so he throws one of his 500 knives into her back. Did the Big Walt tell him. Do we think he was with Jacob? when Hurley kept seeing the cabin? more questions than answers me think.

I'd like the sub to be around. Makes a good twist DZ.

LOL, just read my post. I need to proof these before I mash that send button. It seems so much clearer in my head. I think that's true with my family to HAHA

I don't see the sub either. From the picture, I can make out a rail but no sub. Go back to S3 when Juliete arrives on the island. THey show her climbing out of the sub and stepping over to the dock and you can clearly see that the sub doesn't have rails. I don't know what is behind lock but I can make out the person standing behind him with a riffle.

I had the same theory about the sub. I had thought that Locke had driven the sub around the corner or hid it behind some bushes or someplace like that and then had to swim back to the dock. One person replied that he was wet because he had to put the explosives on the outside of the sub in order to blow it up. I argue that if you were going to blow up a sub, wouldn't you blow it up from the inside? Even if it doesn't sink, you will render it unusable.

I think he hid the sub and blew up the end of the dock and I think he did it because Ben told him to.
