Here's the orientation video they put on the web introducing us to Season 4. I'm just wondering what anyone thinks about it? I find it interesting that here the scientist is showing us a rabbit with the number 15 on it and somehow that same rabbit is cloned or reproduced and he freaks out saying "keep them away from each other". There have been theories going around that this could be the Time Travel facility? Maybe thats why he didn't want the 2 rabbits coming in contact with each other. Just thought I'd post it to see what people thought.

I agree, definitely sounds like it has some kindof time travel aspect. They talk about something to do with time after they all start panicking.

With this idea there could be 3 types of clones

When they crashed the others took there DNA, Made a duplicate of the people and put the clones on another airplanes and flew that one in to the Ocean. The People that remained on the island were used for testing. The people who got off the island are clones of the original people who crashed.

I'm not quite sure what this means but throughout the video there are little blips of different clips. The first one was at :40 and all you see is something like a reflection off glass and in the reflection you see a heavier set black man wearing a tie and glasses and a younger looking fellow in a blue track jacket sitting in a chair.
In the second blip at :49 you see a tall apartment building with a black smooth looking statue in front of it.
In the second blip, and the one that got me most excited, was at 1:10 and you see the word "God loves you as he loved Jacob".
The last one is more obvious at 1:43 and it is anpside down shot of someone riding a bike through the compund.

What does this mean? Did the Dharma people know about Jacob?

I also find it interesting that this video points to possible cloning and a time travel station. Maybe this could help answer why Charlie is seen by Hurley, Walt is seen by a lot of people (remember Walt was taken and possibly could have had experiments done on him) and also even Jack's father. Sounds pretty crazy but nothing about this show would surprise me at this point.

Also, in the video the scientist says, "The unique properties of this island ____ at a kind of casamere effect, allowing us to..." then the video gets cut off. I put a blank there because it's hard to understand what is being said as the tape gets kinda scrambled (sounds like "age" though). Does anyone have any ideas what "casamere" means (however u spell it)? I just find it interesting because I'm wondering what the island allows them to do? Maybe it will explain why Rose's cancer is cured, why Locke can walk again and why Jack's father could still be alive??

Yah I think that subliminal message refers to how the Others think of Jacob as a type of "God" to them since no one can see him except Ben. The Dharma tape has obviously been cut and re-spliced together (prob by the others) so thats where the subliminal messages come in. Interesting though how the most important points are cut out. I hope they are able to find the missing pieces so we can find out what the guy is referring to!

Also has anyone else noticed that all 3 guys' names in the orientation films refer to a candle or even "light" --- We have Dr. Marvin Candle, Mark Wickmund, and now we have Dr. Edgar Halowax. Haha just thought that was funny.

I also found out that the Casimir Effect mentioned in the video is the physical force between one object and another object, and how that force acts on both.

Also, remember Ben uses a rabbit with a number on it (I can't remember the number though) when he takes Sawyer up to the mountain so show him he has a machine in his body that kill him if his heart rate speeds up. He then proceeds to shake the cage and kills the bunny. Then miraculously the bunny ends up being alive after all....could it have been its clone??

I hear they're going to introduce us to Roussieu's flashback story this season which could shed more light into the Dharma Initiative.

Haha this is kinda dumb but thought it related well...in the video it shows that one of the rabbits may have fallen through a "worm hole" due to casimir effect. Isn't it interesting the parallel between Alice in Wonderland's white rabbit escaping through a hole and the rabbit in the video. The rabbit that Ben uses is rabbit #8. Ben used it to con Sawyer to gain his respect, his logic was that you can only gain the respect of a con man by conning him. The heart stopping device was a bluff to manipulate Sawyer. Ben said the rabbit was given a sedative, so it appeared to be killed when it only actually went to sleep :) So when he brings Sawyer to the mountain top to show him they are on a separate island, he tells him the story and that it is the same rabbit. Sawyer asks how does he know its not another rabbit with an 8 painted on, and Ben admits he can't know for sure :) So it wold be interested if Ben actually did kill the original and set a shift to project a version from the past and send it to the future before it was killed, and that would negate the death. But I think he was being honest in that moment.

Wormholes... wow. "Volatile". Yes they are, very very dangerous things. They can theoretically be used to go anywhere in time and space. So this would be time travel and teleportation. The object that falls does not look like a rabbit at all, maybe it's a biproduct of the process. Or maybe they couldn't actually drop a rabbit on camera like that :) Not too humane, better to make a replica look alike that isn't alive.

The shift is set to -20, he says how long, answer 9 minutes. So a timeshift on -20, negative, would be in the past maybe. So it could be that the shift takes an object from the past -20mins and projects it to the future, the 9 minutes is the duration that the effect will last before the object reverts back to its original time/space, like an auto-callback. Or maybe the 9mins is how long form now until the effect is to take place, so the bunny in his hand won't be there in 9mins, it is the bunny that just showed up. And yeah there are theories like one object cannot occupy the same time/space as itself from another time/space. It would cause a paradox in the time/space continuum, something like that. They can't both interact since they are the same thing. So complicated time travel theory.

Ohhh yah! I forgot Ben used a sedative on the rabbit, haha it makes me want to go back and watch all the episodes again haha. And I agree with the possible space/time thing. Maybe that's how Dr. Halowax (or maybe it was the Candle guy) lost his arm by doing one of those experiments. I read a theory that this Orchid Station might possibly be behind that hidden wall no one seems to be able to get to in the swan station. This would make sense because the swan station is where the "incidents" occur. Haha I love this show:D

The cloning theory is interesting, but i see it a little differently. The Casimir effect can be used to show the effects of virtual particles and anti-particles, particularly in the evaporation of black holes. What if what we saw on the video is not time travel, but instead the creation of anti-particles (i.e. matter and anti-matter), hence Edgars extreme concern about the rabbits getting too close. Matter and anti-matter tend to cancel each other, violently.

I like the quantum theory, but isn't everything made of matter on our planet? Like the rabbit? Can rabbits be anti-matter? That doesn't sound right to me. Time is involved for sure, with the shift -20 and 9 minutes dialog. And as mentioned with Desmond, his flashes were of the future. All related to time in my view.

For the "problem with infertility", the island doesn't have a problem with infertility, Juliet told Sun the island increases sperm count by 5x. That does not seem like a problem with fertility. The island problem is with the pregnant women dying sometime in the 2nd trimester.

Because he had originally told them that it was a botannical station (or something like that) as to not give away what they were really studying. The reason they're hidden away on this island is because they're doing experiments that are probably unethical as well as top secret, so the people that are recruited to work for them are probably told to lie to their families so that the secrets won't get out.

Between that and me being a little skeptical about Cindy the flight attendant and her role with the Others, it could be possible that Cindy was able to collect the passengers combs and hairbrushes on the flight and get them to The Others after the crash so they could create a "clone crash" to keep the island safe. That is a really good point about the missing hair brush. Along with that, weren't there other random things missing too? I don't think it was Cindy but remember we did have some of the Others pose as crash victims who were with them for awhile. Also, I do think that Oceanic Airlines IS associated somehow with the Hanso Foundation and the other corporations seeking the island. I have a feeling we'll see why the crash happened and that they were all chosen on purpose.

I've seen this video before and i watched it frame by frame. The man u are refering to with the glasses is a White dude, He's that Degroot guy one of the founders of dharma. That single frame is from the Pearl Station orientation video, where they give u a backround of the D.I. But this obviously signifies time travel and the current stroy as we know it may not even be happening in the present. Think about SAW II, the whole darn thing happened already. We could be looking at the past. Remember when Hurley askes Sayid to fix his radio thing? They sit there at night and pick up a radio signal and its a song. Sayid says the waves bounce of the Atmosphere, and they could be coming from anywhere. Then Hurley says ANYTIME and then he smiles and says, Just kidding. I believe this is a reference!!!!!!!!

Sayid says something to the effect of "this could be coming from anyone anywhere" and Hurley says "or any TIME" then says just kidding dude. I think they put that in there for a reason...it was small but it was obviously important enough to have in the recap of the show. I think it could have a similar meaning with hearing Amelia Earhart's radio transmission??

Hello, I have scanned this forum to see if anyone has mentioned this already but couldn't see anything. I have been watching the Orchid video and noticed that there is some speech at the beginning. I cut this piece out and raised the volume and there appears to be three people talking. It's quite hard to really get a grip on what any of them are saying but here's what I can hear:

Voice 1: "as far as I know there are more islanders than...."
Voice 2: "Juliette..."
Voice 3: "The gentleman wants to thank you for rescuing him..."

I've tried to attach an mp3 of the clip but dunno if it'll work. Failing that just listen carefully to the beginning of the video.

Anyone got any ideas about this?

Oh wow I never noticed that, I'll have to go back and listen. At first I was thinking these videos were done in in the 80's so why would Juliete's name be said? But then I remembered these tapes are cut and spliced so maybe while they were tampering with the tape they recorded some talking in the background? Interesting :)
