I know what you mean. The Kate courtroom scene was too corny and fake. And thinking back Hurley's car chase was extreme. There is a sense of the island wierdness in this back home world. It could explain charlie being seen by the other patient before Hurley did. Smokie mabye? And it goes along with Jacks and Desmonds feelings of being in the wrong place and having to go back.

yes, everything seems so extreme - sayid and his james bond antics, hurleys goes dukes of hazzard, kate and her courtroom drama/stolen child and jack ready to end his life!

yeh i kno and if they are real how has charlie come back from the dead? because earlier on in the episode hurley says im one of the oceanic 6, but then in another episode desmond sees charlie in london and says i kno u from before ur from the island and charlie has no idea what hes on about

I think it was in EW article where it was flatout said these are reality.

Basically the interview stated that it would make a complex show impossible to follow if they started showing flashfowards that were possible realities.

That wasn't a flashback or flashfoward. Desmond was/is reliving his entire life after the hatch exploded. Except this time he has already been there once.

But when Desmond sees Charlie that was Desmond going back to the past so the crash hadnt happened yet. Bcuz in Charlies flashback right after that he saves that nadia chick from the robber. And she calls him a hero.

I've been thinking about this for a while and driving myself mad with it so eventually concluded that they were reality. What was confusing me was I was thinking what if they were flashes of what the future would be if they left the island? But I reckon they're real now!
