What if the Losties ARE course correction.
Something or someone in the past or future time traveled and changed something that should not have happened. Our Losties are there to set things right and take over as island protectors.

What if the 'ghosts' are a course correction.. traveling back from the future which has been corrected to tell people to go correct what they screwed up. (yes, I'm aware of how little sense that makes. :D)
