i feel like we've overlooked a very important clue from last night. what worked? jack's plan of sending them back to before the crash? is death a release and they are sent to fulfill their other lives in the alternate reality?? is that why jack acts so strange like he recognizes everybody on the plane

I don't think he necessarily recongized everyone, he recognized Desmond but he also recognizes him at the hatch too because they met at the stadium when they were running. I definitely think there is significance in what Juliet was saying to Sawyer....it was a lot like Charlotte before she died how her mind went back to a different time entirely. I posted about that somewhere else, but it'll be interesting to see how it "worked"! :D

I still don't know what to make of the plane landing timeline (could be imaginary, could be a replacement of the existing timeline, I'm quite certain it is not any permanent multiverse type of deal). However, I took "it worked" to mean that they did exactly what they were supposed to do completing the sequence of events that led to the need for there to be a hatch (i.e. Faraday was wrong)...if not, I don't see how the other timeline could possibly have existed after the year 1977.
