I would agree...but that water they dunked sayid in was awfullly murky....no telling what happened exactly.

This whole "smokie is everyone" thing going on just reminds me of the pages and pages of "Jacob is" until we learned that Jacob was just, ah, Jacob. And for all you nay-sayers, TPTB have already said that Jacob has never been anyone we have ever seen before. Not a poser then. So, I think this whole smokie is the answer to all the islands problems is just plain, well, weird. Oh, and a good point, last night it was confirmed that JACOB visited the losties off the island and it was not smokie posing as Jacob.

No, you were right the first time. Smokie is not John Locke. John Locke is dead and dead is dead, well, in that alt world. Smokie is just using a physical form, a duplicate, a doppleganger type form but it is not John Locke!!!

how? when bullets rang at smokey he turned to smoke and busted heads. when ben stabbed jacob he died. he is dead, but smoke is not.

there is a distinction here between mib and smokie and jacob, and i guess some upcoming 4th? or maybe smokie is only mib's toy. but the puzzle does not fit that simply just yet.

Look at the scene when the Losties first see the monster. Everyone is standing on the hill looking at the trees move. Suddenly there is another noise and everyone turns their heads to look in the other direction and sees the trees falling there.

I think that may be the mythical big clue that we were told existed in the first episode.
