Boone's sister was on the plane when it crashed. So why wasn't she on the plane this time? Boone said he went to Australia to get his sister out of a relationship but she didnt want to get out of it. In the first episode she was on the plane with him.

i think the real reason is that maggie grace was either unavailable or wouldnt agree to come back.

but within lost, i think its as he said - she didnt want to. there are subtle differences and this would appear to be one of them.

The only thing I can think of (other than Maggie Grace not wanting to come back haha) is that somehow maybe Jack decides to save Shannon's father instead of Sarah after the car accident causing Shannon's father to survive which means her step-mom can't cut her off from the money which in turn means Shannon doesn't need Boone's help any longer.

I still think Jack fixes Sarah some how though because he tells Locke that "nothing is irreversible" which makes me inclined to think he's referring to fixing Sarah (a miracle).

i think maggie grace was/is filming a new film thats coming out called Malice In Wonderland so she was unavailable.

We also didnt get to see michael and walt on the plane

Yeah because they wouldn't be able to explain Walt's aging of 6 years lol :p

Here is the answer as of 1/14/10:

CARLTON CUSE

What about Maggie returning as Shannon?

We would love to have Maggie Grace back, but she's very busy—she's got a movie career. We would love to work it out and have her back on the show, and we've talked to her; we're just trying to get that worked out.

They might get her back on before the season is over, but there's no way for us to know if she would have been on the plane or not. They could have shown us Boone and had him refer to his sister who was being annoying made him move or something. Sort of like how Des moved from his original seat.

I agree, I don't think Boone's comments about his sister not wanting to go, necessarily meant she didn't eventually come and is on the plane.

Well Darlton confirmed last night that Shannon was not on the plane, so that was confirmation enough for me :p

I might have missed it, BUT, if you died during the 2004 plane crash time line, is it possible that "Jack's wish w/bomb" that caused the new 2004 no crash timeline, you aren't on the plane at all? I mean not died from a fall, natural causes, but if you were KILLED, you aren't on the plane. Example: Boone's sister, Ana Lucia...were killed by bullets, stabing, you know, murder or conflict. Things that smokie/MiB thrives upon.

Good theory but Frogurt was on the plane, and as I recall, he was victim of a fiery spear!!

I meant that the dead person that we don't see in visions or visitations was not on the new 815. Boone and Charlie were there and we see them after they're dead. They didn't tell us if Ana Lucia was on there or not.

My comment about how they could have implied that she was there was about them not having the actress and saying they'd like to have her back if they could work it out. Even if they had her, they might not have put her on the plane.

Interesting that Christian's body is STILL missing.

TPTB are trying to show us a new series of events that occur because the Losties detonated Jughead's trigger device. Oddly enough the Losties' lives appear to have changed fairly dramatically even before 815 left from Australia.
