(Spoiler Warning for Life on Mars show)

Not sure how many people caught the US remake of popular UK series called Life on Mars. It came out last year, and was cut pretty short due to limited ratings. So they rushed out the show finale that explains the looming question of the premise of the show.

Basically the show is about a modern day Cop that finds himself back as a cop in the 70's (I think it was the 70's). He doesn't know how it happened, but is able to use his knowledge of history and future technologies to be a better detective. Along the way he gets clues that tie back to his future life.

Well the finale explains it all in the very end. It turns out he's an astronaut that was in a dream state for his long journey. He and ship mates all wake up, and they turn out to be his co-workers from his dream state of being a cop. The catch is that his dream program was messed up, so it seemed like reality to him while he was dreaming.

So what does this have to do with Lost. Well my thought is that all the Losties are in some type of virtual reality that might have gone out of whack. They might all be from the near future and happen to be in some type of dream state program (astronauts sleeping, prisoners in isolation, military experiment, social game, etc.).

Maybe the whole thing is the Facebook of the future... :)

Completely different ending to the uk and the follow up Ashes to Ashes repeating events but the female cop going to the 80's instead still has its good points and is encorporating Sam Tyler into the story line for its finale very soon - can't wait.

The british fans are so in love with Gene Hunt the bad cop/ good cop that even I would see him in a show of his own.

3 memorable scenes I love so far

Sam Tyler entering the police office for the first time, the 70's cops watching him as he's ranting about them having a joke on him, saying the office has been moved around "where's my PC terminal?"

"PC Who?" says one of the cops :D

Sam in his coma state has been given the wrong drug, he's dreaming about standing on the box for Camblewick Green (UK Kids animated programme we loved in that era) Sam in the 70's staggers down the streets to work, getting weird looks from passers by, he finally gets into the canteen to find a guy trying to hang himself from the ceiling. He grabs Gene Hunt and another rant later says "I can take most of this but not Camberwick Green!"

Finally
Ashes to Ashes, they pick up the criminal, search the car, one of the cops takes a can of motor oil with him as they persue the bad guy, Gene grabs the oil as the bad guy leaps over a brick wall, he throws it over which lands on him, you hear a tussle and over they both come looking dishevelled.
Cuts to next scene where they are watching Blue Peter (original footage from another popular childrens show in the uk) letting them know their Blue Peter Garden was vandelised the previous evening, there was a bit of damage and they wasn't sure why motor oil had been poured into the pond but they had managed to save some of the fish.

All look to Gene Hunt "Its only a bloody garden!"

Priceless hunt

Sorry I went on a bit but next to Lost this is my next fav show i'm watching right now.

No the writers have pretty much disproved and dream or dream like endings.

The follow up show Ashes to Ashes finished last friday, having just seen the ending to Lost I have to say sorry D & C you were beaten to it!

All characters in the past of this show were cops who had been killed in the line of duty and Gene Hunt was there to help them feel better about themselves.

Or at least to keep him company, in the end, they were made to realise who they had been and entered "The Pub" as all cops finish their shift down the pub, this is then when they move on.....
