View Full Version : Shark Tails
Quick Draw

I haven't seen this mentioned on a specific thread. I looked for it based on an EW article linked by I Killed Jacob on another thread. I followed a link from the interviews with TPTB posted by IKJ to a recap article.
The writer of that recap asked if there was a Dharma Logo on the shark at the beginning of LA X. I kept running it back over and over on ABC.com and I could swear that when the Shark turns facing the right side of the screen as it's tail-fin comes into profile there is a Dharma Brand on the shark on the back end of the tail right before the fin.
If anyone can post a still shot, I'd appreciate it. If not could anyone else confirm or deny seeing this also?

Yeah I definitely thought I saw that too but would need to see the screen shot for confirmation....it would definitely be plausible though!
yes there was a dharma brand on the shark, there was also a dharma brand on the shark that was swimming about back when michael and sawyer where floating about on the broken raft,1 of the editors put it on there just for the sake of it and didnt actually realise it was so big and noticeable, that was said on an interview on the bluray for that specific season.

Yes, definitely saw it. In fact there were two sharks, but you could only see the 2nd one in enough detail to make out (very clearly) a dharma logo.
I was going through the village and the foot in slow motion to try to determine how long it is expected that the "island" was under water; also how deep under water was it? Seeing how there were pretty lofty mountains on the island, it would have to be pretty deep at areas like the statue foot
The paint on the dharma homes do not mesh with something that's been underwater 27 years, but the coral growth on the foot of the statue do (and of course the commentary by TPTB clears is up anyway.

speaking of the foot i just watched that again and somewhere in the middle of the foot it looks like there is a logo there, and that scene still gives me the chills its awesome
There are many hints that Dharma were experimenting with sharks. On the Hydra island Juliet tells Jack that the room he's being held in was used for dolphins and sharks. Also on the blast door map their is a note saying "Carcharodon carcharias selective breeding facility?", carcharodon carcharias being latin for great white shark.

I am SO GLAD that you saw this too! I've rewound that scene like, 30 times and there is DEFINATELY a Logo on the Sharks tail end.....I can't post the photo, but I'll try!
Okay, so we know that this isn't the first time we've seen the Dharma logo on sharks. We saw them on the Sharks when Sawyer, Michael and Jin were in the water after Walt had been "kidnapped" by the others....but what the heck does THIS mean?

What's the average life span of a shark??
If Dharma is branding sharks in the Hydra Station that will give us an idea of how long ago that shark was branded.
EDIT:::::::: I'm back with info
Nurse sharks- 15 -20
Tiger sharks- 30
Great White- unknown, but theorized to live up to 100.
So my next question,
What type of shark was that???

Don't forget Dharma (or at least the Hanso Foundation) were also researching animal longevity (ie., Joop). So maybe their sharks, whatever type they are, live longer than normal sharks, of the same type.
