Could it be that this definition has something to do with the other reality we are now dealing with?

a.The mind before it receives the impressions gained from experience.
In the reality where the plain is landing successfully, all the losties still seem to remember something (or at least they have a feeling / intuition that something may have happened).

A need or an opportunity to start from the beginning.
