He can't get shot. Bullets bounce off of him. He can turn into some smoke creature to kill people. There is NO human that can do that. He wants so badly to go home. I fear home may be another planet and he accidentally wondered onto the island and became trapped there by Jacob.

well, alien origin for Smokey wouldnt be out of the question at this point, since it's about the only sci-fi cliche we haven't seen so far on the show.

but exactly what and who smokey is and his connection to jacob remain to be seen.

all we know right now is there's a strange dichotomy between them which seems Biblical in scope.

i'm not saying smokey ISN'T an alien, but if he were, wouldn't that make Jacob one as well?

I am staying with the Temple itself is his home and he is trying to get back in it and not under it.

well, like GD said, I think were dealing in a biblical sense here. So my guess is that home is something like heaven or an afterlife. Instead of being trapped here on earth with Jacob forever. Maybe he was trying to get back to heaven(or wherever he goes), and Jacobs game has been holding him back for all these centuries.

WOW !!!! I can't believe how close you guys are to exactly what I have been thinking all along. For clearity I think you must do a Google search on the story of "Enlil and Enki". These were the offspring of A God known as Anu. Guess what???? They originated from another planet known to the Sumerians as Nibiru. They were both left here on Earth until the planets return which is every 3,600 years. Jacob (Enlil) tells Smokie (Enki): "They are coming". BINGO !!!!! I am serious about this. Please read the account....Google Search "NIBIRU". Please post your thought after you check it out. I believe the writers are taking a WHOLE lot from this story that has been recorded by the Sumerians on tablets that were recently found and translated.

Wow...I would be VERY happy with even 10% of this being true...if they go God vs Satan or Dueling Angles or anything blatantly religious for the main story, I'm going to be so pissed...but THAT is AWESOME!

I will be soooo pissed if they turn out to be aliens. Crap I say! I kinda like the whole religious/spiritual aspect of LOST. I like how they've borrowed from many religions. I want (and hope) that the writers don't go the alien route...I just feel like it's been done so many times before and the result (at least for me) was just ~ehh~
