so just watched the episode and it was utterly amazing! How hot did desmond look in his army pjs ladies? I think it revealed an awful lot, didnt open up too many new mysteries and it was just so sad - he is an ol' romantic isnt he!

so here is what i think i have learned

1) desmond WAS exposed to radiation and electomagnetic sources for a long time (the latter for sure) - we know this from the hatch and also he twice travelled to the island in a boat firstly in the race, secondly upon his return after trying to escape and probably deviated from the berings that daniel gave frank each time, thus causing his 'side effects'. i dont think this was a result of the chopper ride as frank and sayid appear to be fine.

2) time travel IS possible, however, you dont entirely go - your physical being stays and your consciousness or mind or whatever you want to call it, goes and 'takes' over or inhabits your physical being in the other time zone. if going back in time, you dont have to absorb the memories etc... of that body as you already have them and some more but if you go forward, you dont take anything from the mind of that body (am i making sense here?) as essentially its no longer in there. I totally love this idea! however, was desmond only going into the future - was his island mind NOT going back, merely his past self going forward and then when returning to 1996, bringing the memories fo going forward with him?

3) i believe that the freighter people are 2 diff teams at least - some are working for widmore and co - some are working for abaddon/naomi (they could be in cahoots with widmore and co but seeing as minkowsi was in contact with naomi and then the comms stuff was trashed - by the burly guy i presume and i think they are with widmore & co) and then we have bens 'man' and they were highly suggesting its a previous lostie as sayid was told he has a friend on the boat (who opened the door for him)

4)more of a question - where dharma working on time travel and trying to make it possible to do the switching of consciousness thing but hadnt perfected that - hence 2 bunny 15s, which if together could potentially have disasterous consequences?

5)dan overexposed himself to radiation over a long period of time, hence the memory loss. but he did seem to be aware of it already or its possibilty when desmond mentioned it so is he also jumping back and forth but the memory loss is cauing him more of an issue so thats why he used desmond so he could HAVE a constant?

6) the constant stops the spontaneous to-ing and fro-ing but it must be something you know from each time zone

oh not finshed yet but i need to go so will come back and add - thoughts more than welcome :)

Whewww!, Great epi. !!! I agree, the "bunny" experiment film was important. What's up with you Scotsmen and bunnies?
My feeling is that Des will survive the long term effects of going to and fro in time, at least long enough to see Penny. It looks like Des has done it more often than we realize. I think It has to do with daddy Whidmore, who may actually have a soft spot for Des.
My biggest question, is why hasn't Sayid suffered similarly as Des. It may give creedance to the theory that Sayid may already have an idea of what is going on through ben in the future.
My kudos to all who believed in time travel, as i was not totally on board .

Before last night I didn't really understand time travel as it's explained. This is the way I saw it.

If time travel is possible, and you go back in time and do something, it will have already happened. Does that make sense? Basically it's impossible to change the past because since you are doing something in the past, it's already been done.

Now the way I see it, if you go back in time, you go into an alternate reality, which directly corresponds to this reality in some way, i.e. daniel's notebook saying "If something happens Desmond will be my constant." because that wasn't in there before.

BTW, this has probably already been mentioned, but isn't Daniel in danger of what happened to Desmond happening to him because he was exposed to radiation "20 times a day."

it may well have happened to daniel already and thats why he was using desmond.
