This is more of a gripe.. Why don't more (or any!) TV networks have movie theater showings of their most popular shows' series finales. I have nice big TV at home, but I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to watch the Lost series finale in a real movie theater with NO COMMERCIALS. And, I would pay top dollar to see it!

Cmon Networks get with it!!! You don't have to pay for promotion, blah blah, just show the damn thing in selected theaters live on the night of the finale!

As John Locke once thought in his head, "I don't understand!"

I would hate watching Lost finale with 100 people, fidgeting around, asking questions...

Plus I can't drink or smoke. But that's my own problem. :D

AND you'd have to pay.

I'd pay whatever they asked, if I could drink and smoke.

And there wasn't anybody else there. :D

Actually, I was just reading about this the other day. Can't remember the article, but the basis of it was that movie theaters are needing to reinvent themselves in this economy. Airing live tv broadcasts (like Nascar, Football games, Boxing, etc.) are a great way for theaters to leverage their equipment. The article went on to say that season finales (Survivor, Lost, etc..) might also find a home in local theaters.

I think the Mayweather/Marquez fight last fall was broadcast in select theaters.....

Yes, it makes complete sense and I think theaters are complete idiots for not realizing this stream of revenue.

I'm not sure if my friend was BSing me, probably was, but apparently over in Washington where he lives, he can go to this nearby theater and watch every episode of season 6 of Lost for free as it airs, and the thing is, he hates Lost.

Lol...we plan to blow up the big, big screen outside and have all our friends over the finale. It's actually lots of fun to do that. We'll put on previous eps first, have a big cookout, etc..then watch the show. Anyone that wants to smoke is free to do so since we're outside. We BYOB it so everyone's happy with that.

Love watching big screen w/DVR and company. We can always hit the pause button, rewind, etc...also, anyone talking or making noise DURING THE SHOW can be quickly reprimanded and then we hit the play button again :-) And of course I am sure we'll re-watch it again as soon as it's over, lol!

What's really weird is that Memphis is in the middle of what many refer to as the "Bible Belt". No liquor sales on Sunday, no beer sales in some communities on Sunday - others, not until after noon...etc..Heck some counties around here are completely dry!

So it's actually a little weird that we have a movie theater that managed to get a license to sell alcohol!

I did a bit of research and found that a theater near me did also broadcast that Boxing match. Now if only I could convince them to broadcast LOST!!!!

A movie theater that sells beer and mixed drinks?

If most theaters charge $5 for a soda, I can't imagine how ridiculous the prices are for beer and mixed drinks.

We have those cinemas in Aus too, called gold class - bit more expensive but you get big recliner seats with tables and wait staff bring any food or drinks (alcohol too) that you order to you so you dont miss anything. They are mainstream cinemas so all current movies can be seen.

I think that is a great idea. The Red Sox have many of their games in theaters around New England during the season. Different animal i know but still...would be cool to be in a room with 100 people at the VERY end of Lost....

Hell yes. i know about the Sox games, but I reeeealy want Lost. I want a rockin sound system and i want to be sucked into the story for teh final episode with NO COMMERCIALS, it takes me so out of the story. I almost want to just watch online with very short breaks but then cant watch on my giant tv at home.

I once spoke to someone connected to LOST and mentioned that I would love to see episodes of shows like LOST in theaters. It wasn't a foreign concept to him. He liked the idea and had already thought about it. He then said there would be problems with the Screen Actors Guild. - 'Darn!' I thought - there's always a catch!

My brother and sister-in-law own a movie theater in small town Iowa. They decided last year to start serving beer and mixed drinks and showing sports games on Sundays. Now THAT would be a fun way to watch the finale, wouldn't it? :D

Hmmm.... they have sports bars. A LOST bar with a really big screen would be fun.
