Didn't Julie say that the freighter was 40 kilos from the island ? but in other shows, people said that the freighter was 80 kilos out ? and not knowing about helicopters. how fast do they fly? To me it would take a little more than 20 minutes to go 40 kilos?????

I think the point was just to say that it shouldn't take the helicopter that long to get back to the freighter - she may have had some facts wrong, but it doesn't matter.

I thought Juliette said 40 MILES.

80 KM = 49 miles. So, it's an estimate.

ok sorry 40 miles, but you have to think that it would take longer than 20 minutes to fly that far??????

i though the freighter was 80 nautical miles away - not sure what a nautical mile is though!

1 nautical mile = 1.852 kilometer or 1.1508 miles....

in lastnight's episode they said the people in the helicopter don't think they've been gone for as long as the people on the island think they have been.

yeah i think the whole point of the scene is to clarify that the helicopter seemed to have been gone a long time from the folks on the islands point of view and really for dan to explain something.

Yeah, regardless of 80 KM or 40 Miles or whatever, the point is, from the Island perspective, the Helicopter took over a day to reach the boat (even Sayid commented on leaving at dusk but it now being day) while the actual trip only took maybe 20 minutes.

Just a thought maybe time passes the same on the island as off the island (ie. dates match up with how long they have been missing) but time in the storm passes differantly. So for the boat and the island they were traveling for over a day to go from place to place but to the ones in the helicopter it only seemed like a short time.

Yeah Elmer. I think the whole time deal is happening in the storm, not off the Island or on the Island.

hmmm, LOSTPEDIA says that it's been 96 days on the Island but that the boat's calendar says 94 days.

Didn't it say 93 on last nights repeat episode. In the captions at the bottom I thought it said 93. I'll have to go back and look.

This is the quote, fwiw.

"According to the calendar on the wall, as well as Desmond, the real-time events of this episode take place on Day 94 (Christmas Eve) when Sayid, Desmond and Frank left the island. This means that while it is Day 94 on the Freighter, it is actually Day 96 on the Island. "

That makes sense since as far as the losties are concerned, the helicopter trip took a day or 2.

I went back and looked and it did say 93 days. Which adds up. 8 days left in sept, 31 days in oct, 30 days in nov and 24 days in dec.
