If Faraday can cure the rat with the light thing why can't he fix Desmond right there. Does he still train the rat to do the course?

He didn't cure the rat. The rat died. Just as the guy on the freighter did.

No,a previous mouse died . The rat was still alive.

OK. I don't remember that, but that's ok.

Either way, they had a conversation about what happened to the dead one.The light didn't fix it--it's what gave it the ability to time travel. Eventually it will die, like the other one and like the guy on the freighter.

My guess is he doesn't have a big enough light.

He used the light to unstick her in time (his phrase). The light was radiation.. it's why he was wearing the lead apron.

The light did not cure her. The light did not exactly kill her, but the effects of the light did.

There was only one rat - Eloise. She's dead and it was "time travel" that killed her. No question about it.

So once you find your constant everything goes back to normal.

Im pretty sure that was another rat (mouse).

Do you think so? It seemed that way.. I mean normal as in he's not going to die because of it. But I wonder if the travel will continue, or it will stop now that he's anchored.. Or was that what you just meant?

No, it was Eloise. They made a point to focus on her dead - she had a bloody nose. That's how we knew that when Minkowski's and Desmond's noses started bleeding it was a bad sign.

Oh, and also Daniel told us she was dead because her brain short-circuted.. she wasn't anchored. That's how the whole anchored thing came up.

But, we know Desmond doesn't die as we see him off the Island offing people and working with Ben. I think that Desmond doesn't die b/c he is in touch with Farraday and he helps fine tune the process or it's b/c he doesn't go back and forth often enough for it to actually kill him.

Sayid is the one off the island offing people and working with Ben, not Des.

And there was definitely only one rat.

Desmond doesn't die because he's "anchored". Remember the whole thing about anchoring that Faraday was talking about?

What's strange about this is that Eloise ran the maze because she went to a time after Dan taught her to run it; he said that wouldn't happen for another hour. Then Eloise died before Dan even got the chance to teach her to run the maze. Incongruity?

hmm - but maybe he did teach her - wasnt desmond out for 75 mins or something at one point - we never saw what was happening in 1996 during that time.

Ya but 75 min to a physics geek is nothing

Wasn't the glow of Daniel's light similar to when the "sky went purple" on the island from the hatch implosion?
