Heaven and Hell-island

I have this huge theory that the island is not what it appears to be.
i know yer thinking, obviously.
but i think it actually hell.
i quote from the show "its a little too hott to be heaven"
i mean.
polar bears.
lets get real.
&&think about it.
everyone who was on that plane&&crashed has done something terribly wrong.
it is making that very clear.

&&the others, are just unexplainable.
crazy people who appear&&disappear just like that!
i dont think so.

my other theory is that charlie should still be alive.
they shouldve revived him or soemthing.
he was the best.

yea good point actually. it has to be some sort of weird time warp thing, or hell. i rely dont kno, ive wondered about that before, but it would seem to weird for them to be in hell. then again... it is a freaky show! lol

well good theories, I may believe that the island is the "test" before hell, but maybe not, I still wish John would have found out what the island "Was" from his father before Sawyer killed him. But then I guess, If they would've found out then, that would have been the end of LOST and the end of all mysteries left on this planet.

Laina, could not agree more! I'm an stubborn afterlife theorist too, but think that as a general theory that Dharma found a way to bridge the afterlife and that the field broke down allowing for 815 survivors an opportunity for redemption and to make peace before continuing on to their next life (whatever that may be). I think Charlie and Echo did. I also think most are between living and dead and don't realize this until they escaped death (ie Jack and Hurley and the oceanic six) and now realize they need to get back or will never have peace. But the looking glass angle is a great one. maybe the looking glass is the portal to the afterlife, allowing you to change and find some sort of redemption before death. As Des always says to jack" see you in the next life brother", and why would Ben say "all living persons would be killed"?. Are many survivors really dead. Is Claire one of living because she gave birth and her and Aaron survived? Are Locke and Rose somewhat dead because they could only be cured in another life-the afterlife? Now I'm really freakin' myself out, I'm fairly confused right now which shows what a good show lost is.

i agree with all of you but it is to early on to be certain on what that place acually is. they could be lost in time in sometype of portal. or they could be ine the after life. be we will know eventually hopefully.

So a Brachiosaurus or something is found with a collar on in the desert.... Obviously, some part of some government is reproducing the Philidelphia experement in the ocean and the plane was caught up in it and transported back in time.... They know they have to cover their tracks and use a replica plane and get dead bodies to look like the plane had crashed in the ocean and all were killed.... Easy !!!

That explains the recruiter not aging, he jumps around in time and therefor doesnt age the same way as someone who is not time traveling !

There are so many possibilities of what the island is...

The hell thing is easy pickings. Locke's dad flat out stated he thought he was in hell.

I guess its possible. However, there have been more explanations presented on the show than I can remember.
I don't think the viewer is really supposed to know which is the "real" answer.

Just pick whichever one you like.

Another one that was presented was that the entire thing is in Hurley's head.
Which would explain libby being on the island. Would also explain the numbers.

Yeah I agree I don't think it's all in his head..i'll be kinda pissed if he wakes up from a coma or if it turns out to be all just a dream. Didn't they do that on a soap opera already?

Well, on the ABC site watching the cap with all the prompt info. the notes said the Daniel's experiement and name were important and so is the name of Makowski (whatever spelling it is) on the boat was the same name as a mathametician. I'm leaning more towards the "time" theories rather than purgatory themed. But the "crashed plane in the sea" issue convolutes the water! I personally think it's tied to the Atlantis legend with all the greek typology.

The hell thing on the show was obviously intentional.
Don't think the writers meant for it to be literal.
It was likely to point out the fact that Ben is the "devil".

He was trying to corrupt locke at the time.

Sayid is definately to smart for that. I can't wait to find out how he ended up working for Ben. I'm not sure if believe Kate stole Aaron. I think something ends up happening to Claire and Kate ends up with Aaron some how. I'm thinking Claire ends up being killed.

I dont think the island is supposed to be heaven or hell or whatever. The writers or whatever have said that it isnt purgatory or anything like that. But the whole theory reminds me of the Riverworld series by scifi author Philip Jose Farmer. They are about a river valley where every person who has ever lived is resurrected and they have to move down the valley like the whole hindu philosophy of reincarnation and reaching nirvana. In the books, people die but they just end up farther down the river.

I definately can't wait to find out how she ends up with Aaron. She must be playing it off as if he is her own. No court would let her adopt him or give here custody with her being a fugitive and all.

to me it looks like the people who have died have been tested and judged. Especially Echo when the black smoke looked him in the face as if to judge. This island also has healing powers. Cured Roses cancer, John can walk and in a way cured everyone emotionally Charlie and drugs. To have closure on issues in their lives and to some to keep learning lessons until they get it right. I also think that the government is aware of this island almost like UFO. This island has the whole package time warp, healing powers, lets you see dead people. Wouldnt it be funny if it is all in Herlys head like split personalities. When you have trama you can develope multiple personalities. Remember he was is a hospital before crash. Lets hope not what a cop out. Oh one more thing about heaven and hell Lock reminds me of Jesus season 1 he was the one who helped everyone mentally. And he was the only one not affraid of the monster.

Yeah last weeks episode is definitely one of my favorites. Desmond has grown on me and I love that he finally got to connect with Penny again. Sayid will always be my favorite though. I think Daniel might actually already be suffering a little of that time traveling thing. He sometimes seems to blank out, not sure if it's his memory or what's going on.
