For that to be true that would mean that Ben knew the freighter was coming when he let Michael go.
Also, it seems that if he were so concerned with the people from the freighter coming to the island he would have instructed his spy to sabotage the mission, even if that meant killing everyone on board.
It also seems a bit farfetched that Michael would be able to get to the freighter, get all the background info on the people, then get it to Ben.
It is LOST though....;-)

True. But remember, Michael left in the season finale of Season 2. That's, what, 30 days prior to where we currently are in LOST. It's entirely possible Ben know of the ship at that point, or even that the ship was already there.
As far as getting the info from the people and to Ben, remember Walt has some sort of special powers. And told Locke that the people on the boat were bad. So, who knows.
But I REALLY don't understand how people think the spy is Sayid.

Radioman said the frieghter had been anchored out there for a long time doing nothing. So it would have been there when Michael left.

Maybe Ben doesn't have a spy at all and he actually has the ability to travel in time himself. He may not have that ability at this present time that we are watching him on the island or maybe he does. If he doesn't then maybe Faraday helps him achieve this ability and he is able to go back in time and give himself the thoughts that he now knows..ie the freighter. He may have even known the plane was going to crash. You never know. I think it is possible since he is the only one that can see and hear Jacob (Faraday says something can happen if you dont follow the course exactly) and he obviously has made trip on and off the island. Just a thought..

Walt is Ben’s Man / Spy! He was under Ben's peoples care for a good amount of time to be turned and trained, and "The Others" exposed Walt to “Tests”. He is also the most likely to help Ben's people. Michael will be on the ship too, but Walt is Ben’s man. I'll bet anything on this one. It's WALT!!!! Think about it. Why did Ben just let Walt leave when they wanted him so badly? The others knew how "Special" Walt was to them. I bet they have Michael locked up someplace on the ship. There is no way they would have just let Walt go. It's WALT!

I still think it's Richard Alpert.

I thought Richard was leading the rest of the others to the temple.

Shhh. lol. Perhaps he's had contact with Ben since then, or perhaps this has been part of Ben's plan all along. I just re-watched the scene in Through the Looking Glass where Ben tells Richard to take the Others to the temple, and Ben says, "You're still going to the Temple, as planned". This implies that Ben had a greater plan in the works, and don't forget that when he said this he already knew about Naomi and the presence of the freighter.

I posted the same theory a few days ago. To me it makes the most sense. I came to it after reading another theory that it was Michael, which immediately made a lot of sense. But then I realized that Michael and Ben had hardly seen each other, except for the few seconds that it took Michael to shoot himself in the shoulder, and the few minutes when Michael and Walt were leaving on the boat. When Michael was captured by the Others, Ben was a prisoner in the Hatch; then after Ben's release, Michael was too busy trying to get Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley to "help" him rescue Walt. All that, plus Michael almost assuredly hates Ben for having Walt kidnapped, so why would he even help Ben, even if they'd had more time to talk?

Personally, I don't understand how anyone could think that Ben's spy is Walt or Michael after the latest episode. Think about this, Mikowski (sp?) told Sayid and Desmond that the Captain and the crew know that they have a traitor on the boat. Someone cut the communication lines, and they haven't been able to figure out who did it yet. Now, let's just for argument's sake say that Michael and Walt were found by the freighter and rescued. They were surely yelling "We're survivors of Oceanic 815!" as they were rescued, and the freighter crew would have known who they were and thus not trusted them, certainly not after things started getting sabotaged. We saw how they received Sayid and Desmond, upon hearing that they were crash survivors the guy who was in 3:10 to Yuma said "Why'd you bring them here?". Can you picture that same crew rescuing Michael and Walt off of their little boat and taking them aboard and giving them hot cocoa? THEN, after the communications lines get sabotaged, they haven't figured out who did it yet? Sorry, but it's not Michael or Walt.

Thanks, I was trying to remember where I'd seen him before!

As soon as I saw him on the freighter I didn't recognize him but was thinking, "Why do I have the feeling that he's such an *******?" Than I looked him up after and realized he was that prick cowboy lol
