well, it's still the selection process, right? Richard checked on John, then Jacob touched him after the fall...The touch kind of secures the selection, correct?

We've seen Jacob (or the entity that occupied Jacob) touch Kate and James at a young age.

We've seen Jacob touch Jack, Hurley and Sun/Jin, albeit at an older age.
