Why wasn't Sayid affected by the helicopter trip like Desmond was? Mayhaps it has to do with the quantity of electromagnetism? And should't it then effect Faraday, since he was exposed to it during his experiments? :confused:

Yeah, that's why I said it might have to with the quantity of exposure - since he recieved the brunt of it after turning the key. They made a point of saying Faraday wasn't protecting his head while conducting his experiments, so why isn't he having side effects?

he is having side effects.....when charlotte was playing the card memory game with him....he had no short term memory.....when he was watching the news release on the discovery of 815....he was crying but didn't know why.....he is still a genius but has lost short term memory and probably other things

This is so confusing because we're all talking about the same things in like five different threads lol. But anyway, don't forget that Desmond is Daniel's constant, and Daniel came into contact with his constant when he arrived on the island. Everyone on the freighter seems to think Daniel is a looney, which I guess he is even when he's acting normal, but could this mean that before Daniel came into contact with Desmond on the island that he was also tripping back in time like Desmond was? Unlikely I suppose, but it would explain why Daniel isn't "time tripping" anymore.

not sure about that. it looked to me that when des' consciousness traveled to the past or visa versa the des in the other time period passed out like he was in a mini-coma if there's such a thing - there wasn't any emotion.

in 1996 dan laughed at des when des questioned dan's memory so dan's memory has seriously deteriorated in 8 years.

i think sayid and frank escaped as they havent had the same level of exposure that desmond has had and also, desmond has passed through the incorrect bearing more oten that they have aswell.

Desmond had a huge amount of radiation and electro-magnetism when he was in the hatch. And to have it explode when he turned the key... he is obviously a special case in the bunch.

remember when he came to the island in the boat race, there is a chance he came in on the wrong bearing and then again when he escaped and came back. thats not necesarrily true but there is a chance.
