I'm just wondering.... Why was Jacob invisible to Locke in the cabin? Or was he even there? And if he wasn't there... who caused a ruckus in the cabin?

If i was to follow the "Jacob is a Genie" theory, could it be that Jacob (Genie) was in a "bottle". Maybe contained under the Swan for some reason?

If so, Would it be fair to say he was released from the "bottle" after the first explosion at the Swan?

I know, i know.... crazy right?

i think we are lead to believe the ash is responsible for the containing. it still is a great question

Ilana said Jacob had not been there for "a long time". Jacob was not in the cabin at all during that scene. MIB was. Ben was talking to nobody in the chair, he admitted that to Flocke. MIB told Locke to "help me", and he did just that. It was only after he talked to Locke directly (Ben didn't hear it) did the ruckus happen.

has anyone tried to freeze frame the part in the cabin when everything starts to go crazy if you freeze it just right you'll see someone in the chair with a beard, it's kind of crazy but i haven't heard anyone else bring this up.

I'm sure it's been discussed at length here, it sure has been elsewhere...

No, it wasn't Jacob. It's fairly obvious now, I think. Also we've seen Jacob in the statue, and if the cave was also his new home, than the cabin was not. The cabin was a prison for MiB, the only question really is who broke the circle of ash to let him out? I used to think it was one of the losties, but Smokie was obviously free before they got there and the cabin wasn't even built until the '70s, so I don't think it was any of them while time traveling either.

It's clear to me that the ash was meant to keep Smokie out, not in. See the temple, around Bram, etc.

i like the "Djinn" theory, but i think it applies more to Mib than Jacob.

Jacob was never trapped. He didnt need to find a loophole.

ergo, MiB was in the cabin when Ben took Locke there.

earlier that episode, ben's dead mother appeared to him. i think it's pretty clear now this may have been MiB too. if Ben doesnt join the Others, he doesnt betray Dharma.

jack's sighting of christian was a dream sequence, no?

the smoke detector went off so that's a clue.

and just because smokey couldnt leave the island physically doesnt mean he couldnt project himself onto the boat as christian.

i dont think jacob has ever been christian, but we know MiB has.
