I think once Jack knows exactly what Richard's deal is on the island, that he'll figure out Jacob's purpose, and by extension, his own purpose on the island. Jack and Richard will be on one side of the war against Smokey. Question is, who else will take their side? My guess is Kate, but I'm not sure who else? Any thoughts?

I agree. Jack is the obvious choice for Jacob. Some people say that because he's so obvious, that he can't be it... yet there's too much evidence supporting the case for Jack (Jacob's direct interest above all others, for one). There's plenty of things not obvious on the show, so nothing wrong with a few things being clear.

Richard is struggling for a purpose, to the point of being ready to die if he can't find one. He's eager to support Jack; you can see it in his face and attitude when Jack dispelled the chance of the dynamite exploding. His real purpose is still not entirely clear, and there is indeed a lot about his past yet to be seen. The actor did elude to a future episode where much of that will be explained. I'm hoping it's the next one. :)

As for Kate... she's not all that keen about FLocke (actually apprehensive and disgusted). She came along because she didn't have much of a choice. There's no longer any good chemistry between her and Sawyer. No affection at all upon being reunited. I'll bet anything she flees from FLocke's team when the opportunity is right.

yea, all good points. I guess to have a war we'll need a bunch more on Jack's side. So even though I'm in the camp that Widmore is on Smokey's side, it doesn't make for an even fight, so maybe Widmore is in Jacob's camp (so to speak). I don't know, the more I learn the more confused I get.

I tend to think this is where its headed and I would be satisfied if this were the case in the end.
