Watching "The Universe" on History Channel and now they're talking about parallel universes, time travel, etc.

maybe they are trying to be first in line when LOST re-runs go into syndication...

...24 hour LOST marathons, only on the History Channel!

This stuff isn't new. Most of the theories and ideas that they are playing with on Lost have been around for about 50 years or more. There have been "popular science" shows on Quantum Physics, Time Travel, and Parallel Universes on channels like History and Discovery for almost 20 years. So, more accurately, the writers of Lost likely watched these shows on the Discovery channel when they were in college getting their Creative Writing and Film degrees and said to themselves "Wow, that stuff would be really cool in a show someday!".

the discovery channel often shows show or documentaries that have to do movies or shows that are popular at the time. like pirate stuff for PotC, supernatural for sixth since, etc. I love discovery channel.

Yeah that is true, I wasn't trying to say you guys are stupid or anything my point is just that you can pretty much catch a Time Travel/Quantum Physics/Parallel Universe/String Theory show on Discovery any given week. Over the years I've probably seen 10 of these shows, some of them multiple times each. So while they may be increasing the airing of these shows because of the attention the subject is getting in Lost, I'm not sure if that's definately the case.

After 300 came out the History channel played 'The Real Story of the 300' but it was actually a previously recorded program (years before 300) that was called something else. Like The 300 and the Battle at Thermopolie.

I think they did up their airings of shows like that... but I don't think they made it because of Lost.
