Hope this doesn't piss anyone off, I just like film talk as much as Lost so I like to chat about my favourites!

I was watching one of my favourites again last night - 'Falling down' with Michael Douglas - the fast food place scene is the funniest thing ever! And he's so right in mind about what he's actually saying!

That's what's scary about that movie. We all have moments like that. I wish I had a nickel for time I wanted to just haul back and kick someone in the ass walking around here, or on the subway.

Yes, the film is so realistic when it comes to human nature - but it's too bloody funny, it's all the things I'd like to do when people annoy me!

'I don't think she likes your special sauce, Rick' HAHAHAHA

Bloody hell! I hate when people are rude to you in a shop - it takes nothing to be nice! I'll never understand it! God my friend and I used to work in a shop, that's how we met, and we'd play tricks all the time on the people who pissed us off!

bunnydixon
03-01-2008, 10:13 PM
haha i used to work in virgin megatsore way back in my student days and if a customer was really rude, we would do things like drop sticky security tags on the floor so they stuck to the soles of their shoes and then they would set the alarms of on the way out ;)

Turnip Queen
03-01-2008, 10:14 PM
HAHAHA Brilliant! Now I think of it, we tended to play more tricks on the supervisors than anything else - I swear, the things we did were classic!

HAHA Ok - we worked in a department store, and the old granny types hated me and Amanda cos we were always having a laugh, so this particular supervisor was doing Amanda's head in all the time, so one day Amanda took her supervisor name tag and hid it in her pocket. This customer comes up to her and says 'Do you know what size I would be in knickers?' and Amanda says 'What? You don't know what bloody size you are? What size were the last pair you bought?' and the woman says 'I don't know' so Amanda decided to let rip at her with the name badge. The woman asked her to check the size on the knickers she was wearing so Amanda says 'Listen you're telling me you don't know what size you are in knickers, and now you want me to check. F**K off!' HAHA So the woman says 'You're very rude' and Amanda starts pointing at the name badge and says 'Report me! My name is ...*name of supervisor* so f**king report me!' HAHAHA So she did it again to someone else and the supervisor called a big meeting and everything saying there was someone going around impersonating her and it was very strange HAHHAHA God it was so funny, it's not as funny typed out here but it's one of the best moments ever!

bunnydixon
03-01-2008, 10:29 PM
did she ever get found out?

Turnip Queen
03-01-2008, 10:30 PM
No! The funny thing was, she'd do loads of stuff like that and never get caught, and I'd be brought up to the office just for laughing in the canteen! HAHA I didn't care, I'd love to go back in time just to relive some of that!

bunnydixon
03-01-2008, 10:36 PM

some folks are just like that though - they get away with murder!

Turnip Queen
03-01-2008, 10:43 PM
I swear, she's my hero! We played a ton of tricks (You must understand, we did it on people who really deserved it - you know those supervisor-types who think they're important cos they're a supervisor and it's so bloody stupid cos all you're doing is stacking a shelf?) That type! So playing tricks was my outlet in there! :D

bunnydixon

Turnip Queen
03-01-2008, 10:47 PM
HAHA It's just so good to feel you're getting someone back like that - retail jobs are the worst for it I think, so it's great if you have a partner in crime, making prank calls on breaktime HAHAHA

Anyway, on that note, I'll go to bed, before I start to sound too psychotic! Goodnight! :D

beachblinkette

Keira didn't have that big a role but McAvoy did. He's irresistible! If you like artsy and costumey movies (and there are some scenes from WW2 that are amazing)A very fine movie and I almost didn't see it. Vanessa Redgrave has a small part at the end-very moving.

Thought Atonement was ok. Really liked No Country for Old Men.

Was flipping the channels the other day, and stumbled on The Patriot. Love that movie, and I always stop and watch it when I find it on. Gladiator is another one of my favorites.

And WTF is Tunip Queen doing in that picture???

HAHAHA That's what I do when I'm drunk! I'm on a boat too, so I thought it could tie in with Lost! :D

I haven't seen Atonement but I'm not a Keira Knightley fan or any of that sort of stuff - I'm a comedy or horror person! I didn't see No Country for old men. I went to see 'Juno' in the cinema last week, and yes, I know people will think I'm mad for saying this, but I thought it was WAY over-rated. Everyone's going on about it being amazing, but I wasn't impressed at all - it was watchable but I wouldn't buy it on dvd!

bunnydixon
03-02-2008, 09:57 PM

HAHA I know, and I thought she'd keep the baby in the end, since she had her fella and all! I suppose that was supposed to be the 'realistic' part of it or something. BLAHHH

beachblinkette
03-02-2008, 10:13 PM
Yup! The Juno was Ok but she was really naive and it made me angry with her..No Country was one whirl of a movie. That guy was running from fate and it finally caught up with him-like the appointment with death parable.Signs was one of my favorite movies. Amy Breslin and Joachin Phoenix were just so good in that. I've watched it a million times. Some of my other favs are Crossing Delancey, Hearts In Atlantis, Sense and Sensibility, and little known-Mumford.I love to see them on the big screen! I'm a hopeless selective movie lover!

I'll tell you what film FREAKED me out - Saw 3! The first two were gruesome, but the third one disturbed me SO MUCH!!!!!!! I was compelled to watch the films cos the reasoning behind why the guy is doing it all is really interesting, but the imagery is too disturbing! The foot at the beginning of the third one!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I had visions of it for weeks after it, I swear!

What was Jack like in it? I must go see it. I just saw the ad again for it - I'd forgotten I'd already seen the ad - the problem with those movies is that I feel like I'm watching the same film over and over, there's too many in that genre!

Well, without revealing too much...he had much of the same mannerisms but he definitely had different intentions. It was more of a Dennis Quaid flick anyway. And you're right, too many movies in this genre. Although this one was creative, it kinda fizzled and got old after a while.

Oh God, you know, I think everyone saw Arachnaphobia when they were a kid, and that's the reason so many people are afraid of spiders - I know that's why I'm afraid of them! I'll never forget seeing that film when I was young, it frightened the life out of me!
I used to love all the teen slashers that were out in the 90's too - they weren't that scary but they're just so watchable, I'll always watch that stuff!
Scariest movie for me is probably the original Japanese version of 'The Ring' or 'Ringu' - I watched it one Halloween on the tv a couple of years ago, ALONE, and was TERRIFIED! Great film!

BUT today, I got a nice surprise! I was re-watching one of my favourite films I've had on dvd for AGES, but haven't watched in a good while - 'ROADKILL' - and I noticed ONLY now that it's produced and written by J.J. Abrams!!! And even the music in it is similar to the music they put in here and there in Lost - kinda 50s style stuff! Has anyone seen it? It's a really good film!

I saw 10,000 BC and the Spiderwick Chronicles recently.

10,000 BC is a perfect example of how a movie can have a fantastic trailer, but be a mediocre movie (that's being nice). The CG is pretty dang good, but I guess they had no budget for writing, acting, or even a tiny bit of historical research.

On the other hand, Spiderwick Chronicles was a big surprise. Fun movie with lots of good CG. Never really slowed down much. My 13 yr old daughter didn't want to see it, but I talked her into it since the reviews were so good. It was fun seeing how much she enjoyed it.

the last movie i watched was frailty. meh. it was ok, i guess. i like bill paxton in the few movies i've seen him in, so i thought i'd see one that he directed. before that i saw a collection of three movies called three...extremes. three japanese horror directors got together to make three short films. i'd recommend this if you've ever seen or liked the concept of some japanese horror films. i was quite relieved to find that none of them fell back upon the oft repeated creepy-squirming, weird-noise-making female crabwalking on the wall trick.

It was so weird, cos I haven't watched that film in ages and the guy was talking about how a SHEPARD helped him, and just watching a clip from the movie had me thinking of LOST all the way through - absolutely fascinating stuff!

mahalo_dude

Hey Bubbles! Oh God, I saw Hostel, really really gorey! I couldn't take the gore!

Hostel and other "torture porn" really ought to be rated X or NC-17, if produced at all (I think they suck). Extremely disturbing and graphic images that these movies are based on do not promote creativity, they simply promote the gross-out factor. And what's creative about that? Besides, with all of the psychos in the news today, why give them ideas?

bunnydixon
03-24-2008, 10:23 AM
movies dont create psyhcos, movies make psychos mroe creative :D lol!!

I agree TQ, the best things about horror movies was the scary element rather than the gross out element but it seems to be these days they focus on the gross stuff and forget how to build tension or make you jump.

bunnydixon
03-24-2008, 10:27 AM
the thing with hostel is that the idea was okay and the storyline was okay but wouldnt it havebeen more scary if they never showed the gore and maybe we just heard screaming and noises and not known what the hell was going on?

I don't like her though, and I think the wrong person won last year too!

HAHA Yeah she got very bitchy towards the end too though! The girls this year aren't doing very good jobs at presenting stuff - they're really bad!

well its like x factor and all that, these shows get to a point where they scrape the bottom of the barrel for contestants lol!!! but we still watch!

Hmmm well I think the photos are really good, but the presenting is rubbish! This year they didn't even have to do an ad in another language, it was only plain English! HAHA You think X-Factor is bad - you'd want to see the Irish version, it's the pits!

maybe we should audition for britains next top model :D

Were they in X-Factor? I missed the whole last series of it! I ended up seeing our 'You're a star' - this year wasn't too bad, but last year it was unbelievable! There was this boy band on it that were actually good - they sounded like the indie/rock type that are quite popular today, and in the final they were up against this ****ing eejit who looked like a librarian singing some boring ballad, and who wins but the librarian type! He'd never make it in music - the wrong people win - I hate ballady types of music! GRRRRRRRR

yeah the wronf folks always win - i mean, who has ever had success from these shows?

Just watched a movie called Southland Tales by Richard Kelly (the Donnie Darko bloke)....

I am now going to have to set myself on fire in hopes that it will enlighten me as to what the hell just happened.

Strangely awesome.

I watched Derailed and I watched something last night but I can't remember what it was. I just downloaed, Run Fatboy Run and Good Luck Chuck.

I got the 2 disc version of Forrest Gump just now which is one of my favourite movies - "But you ain't got no legs, Lieutenant Dan" :D

Derailed I figured out from the moment he was on the train. The whole twist was obvious but still a great film.

I saw Superbad for the 5th time ever tonight. Most recent film i saw at cinema was Horton hears a Who i liked it but it was a bit sparse of humor in parts. best film i have seen recently is Vantage point. Great story but poorly presented

Vantage Point is on my list at present. I watched Lions for Lambs a while back which has a political storyline. It was quite interesting but I thought they were blowing their own trumpet a little too much during the film.

Oh God! I went to see 'One missed call' last night - it was so bad! HAHAHA I was laughing my head off all the way through! The ad looked so good I thought it'd be great! It was another of those films trying to imitate the Ring! It was like a spoof of The Ring mixed with Final Destination - except it was actually serious! I still enjoyed it though, but I was in a good mood anyway!
I rewatched one of my favourite films today - BIG! I love that film, I love the whole thing about fairgrounds - they're always so eerie, love it!

BIG is an *awesome* movie. Total childhood favourite.

I'm watching "Once" right now with arguably the best thing ever to come out of your island, TQ...mr Glen Hansard (of the Frames).

It's actually such a nice movie so far...Hansard's on top form musically as usual and I'm sitting here with the acoustic learning the songs lol

Need to find me mates who play the piano now (and still looking for one who plays the cello) so I can actually do something with music besides play in my room and at parties :p

Anyway...back to the movie...ah gotta love that lack of impetus even though uni finishes in 4 weeks and I've done **** all :D :)

Oh I haven't seen that! I'm going to buy 'Enchanted' tommorrow - it's a kid's movie, but I LOVE it, it was out at Christmas and I thought it was really funny! I haven't seen any good films since though!
HAHA I have to learn to play the keyboard now that I have one, I don't have a clue, the noise coming out of my room HAHAHAHA

Just remembered I met Glen Hansard at T in the Park a few years back lol, he was well funny.

Signed my ticket "Matt: Coola Boola! - Glen x".......which was nice.
