Just thought it was LOL enough to share. I work in a shoe store and there is a shoe made in Tunisia. One customer asked me if I knew where it was was, and why of course I did! He was so impressed that I actually knew where it was he said he just had to buy shoes off me! So I totally got a commission thanks to many a day going why the hell Tunisia!?!?!?! :D

Tunisia is a horrid smelly country, but I have been to mattmata where they filmed starwars etc, my claim to fame, I've been to Luke skywalkers house!!, and the impressive El,djem coliseum which made it worthwhile. It's funny you mention shoe's all you see in the medina's are row upon row of vendors selling all types of footwear I brought a pair of moccasin type sandals which were hand made, six years on they are as good as new and very very comfortable.

You're such a world traveler, Mattyboy. Stinky or not, I really envy you!
Good for you, Harpie. This show really has taught us a lot, hasn't it?

Buy me a pair next time you're there, alright? :)
My husband has been bugging me to go to Morocco, but I can only endure Egypt because of its rich monuments. No disrespect meant, but if you've ever been to an Arab country, and especially if you're a woman, you know what I mean.

You mean the customer didn't think it was totally awkward went you started talking about an exit point, how Charlotte found polar bear remains, and how everyone traveled through time when they got there?

Ok. That kids in the hall skit was FANTASTIC. Now you all know what my day consists of! Lol. You have no idea how many times i have been asked 'do you work here' while i'm doing crap around the store that only an employee would do.
And Nat, i'm sure i learned it in school, but LOST is much more recent and therefore much more memorable. : D

Where are you from? I'm still surprised when people don't mistake Serbia for Siberia, or when they even know Serbia is in the Balkans.
I personally don't remember that they mentioned where Tunisia is in Lost, but of course I know. That majority of the North Americans do not, doesn't surprise me one bit. No disrespect meant, I'm just stating the facts.

it is true, they don't teach it, I did not do 12th gade, kindergarten or second half of eleventh, they must of covered it then. I knew nothing much about history before college except a bunch of stuff about the pyramids and Egypt, some Rome stuff, Revolutionary war some, civil war, and growing up in California, the gold rush and Donner party.
good thing I went to college and read stuff and have an atlas and a globe!

Finally, Pageantry accepts me as a member and comments on one of my post's, but I'm pretty sure I'm being mocked here! :D
J, Tunisia like Egypt is not to bad for western women nowadays, providing your respectful of things like religion and cover up your arms and legs away from the beaches and hotels. I think they realize tourism is an important part of their economy, of course, like anywhere, if your not careful where you go....
Sure I'll pick up you some shoes next time I'm there, what size? :)

I think some people are drawn to geography and others are not, regardless of what continent they live on. I was certainly taught geography and that is one of the classes that just came naturally to me. History was always a battle (pun intended :p) as I have a hard time with all the memorization of dates, etc. My brain just isn't wired that way.
The photos you have shared of Serbia look amazing, Jelena, and I would love to travel there someday too.

Yeah, that's the worst thing, that Egypt is not TOO BAD, but it's pretty painful. I went with my brother, and I held on to his hand for dear life. And of course I didn't cover up myself - it was 40 degrees Celsius out there.
I'm European size 40. Too lazy to convert to British system. :)

Please, come. I actually hated geography more than history. With history you got some stories. With geography, it was just facts. But, like Stream says, owning a globe helps.
