I think Vincent the dog is an important factor in this show. I can't put my finger on what it is but I think he will be a factor.

The truth about Vincent: The Vincent that we have seen so far is a Vincent who is imbibed with the consciousness of Vincent from the future. Don't forget, he has been exposed to just as much electromagnitivity as anyone else on the island has, and at some point he must leave. When they're flying him off the island wrapped in a blanket and feeding him doggy biscuits and rubbing his belly his consciousness will take a Desmond-esque trip back in time and he will be back on the island. This explains why he's constantly showing up at just the right time and revealing things to all of his friends on the island...he knows what's going on and only he has the key to all of the island's secrets!

You "jest" might be onto something! Vincent is named after a Spanish martyr(St. Vincent d. 304) and is the patron saint of winegrowers. No one is going to jest about that!
