Call in 8 years

If someone you cared about - i mean enough that you would marry them - told you in a highly emotional state that they would call you on Xmas eve in 8 years what would you do?

Xmas eve is not some random day that you would forget.

I say it would plant a seed that would remain and on that day you might feel silly but you would be wondering all day.

Kind of like when someone tells you somethingthat sounds totally ridiculous but for some reason you just have to know 100% for sure and prove it to your self.

i think if you still had feelings for them, you would give them the number. That doesnt necessarily mean that you will let your heart wait for them for 8 years but at the time, it might be the one thing you have to hold onto, just something that makes you feel as if you're both still connected.

When I saw the background....Christmas tree, presents etc I was thinking she is married with kids. The camera took its time to show that she didn't have a ring on during the call. Her Bio clock has to be kicking and Daddy has to be worried that his bloodline could be in danger if Penny dosen't have kids. Just throwing that tidbit out there.:)

I meant more like on the day or as it approaches, not like you would put your whole life on hold for 8 years waiting for the call...

Exactly Bunny, you would jump when the phone rang and probably already have it in your hand. Particularly if you had, for some reason, began to obsess over that person you hadn't seen for 8 years and started to spend all of your money conducting a global search for them! You would pick up the phone immediately, and not let it ring for 30 seconds. Also, when you did finally hear their voice, you would mention either that you knew they were going to call or at least ask them how they, at the time 8 years ago, knew that they would call at that very moment.

This is precisely why Penny did not know that Desmond would call that day because the Penny in the plane of reality where the "present" time in the show takes place was never visited by Desmond.

I'd probably remember on the 26th or something, and go "oh ****, I forgot to wait by the phone".

Well he didn't give a time he would call just the day. After sitting by the phone all day on top of getting ready for X-mas, once the phone finally rang you would probably just stare at it for a few second in disbelief that it finally rang. Of course she could have been in the bathroom!!;)

I agree, she was probably in the bathroom. Altough we didn't hear a flush and you know how those Widmores like to waste water.

Yes, you'd definitely remember, and be wondering what the hell was going on! Especially if you had been searching for the person for 3 years and they were never heard of again and you still got the call, you'd be freaked! That was SO sad, I love Desmond, he's one of my top three favourite characters, and I always just feel so sorry for him!

i still think that penny wasn't waiting because of how long it took her to answer AND in listening to the conversation....she ignored his question of waiting.....would i give the number....hell ya BUT...i wouldn't sit on the couch eating bon bons waiting for the eight years to past..LIFE is too short.....i would also think that he is crazy in saying that he would call in 8 years...i mean she didn't seem to investigate that point too much...wierd!

yea if someone told me to NOT move, but WILL call me in 8 years, on that same exact day.... yeaaa.... i wouldnt stay in the same place!!
