He didn't wear protective head gear when doing the experiment on the rat. perhaps he has a brain tumor but it being healed by the island. evidence for him getting better is the test he was doing with charlotte. He remembered 2 cards outta 3 which was said to be progress

did he remember 2 out of 3 or was he able to guess 2 out of 3?

do you think maybe this whole mess(everything that is going on in the show) is Daniel's fault due to him 'time traveling' and ****ing everything up? i am beginning to think that maybe the reason why he was crying when he saw the news report with flight 815 underwater was because he knew someone on the plane or whatever, and tried to go back to try and stop the plane from crashing...

i assume it was remember as he seemed to have trouble remembering his own name and forgot the distress code "tell my sister i love her"

first of all, who ever said that Daniel has a memory lose ???? It seem to me that the Daniel Faraday that is 2004 on the island, acts the same of the 1996 Daniel Faraday, except for the long hair......and maybe Charlotte and Danial was just doing some experiment with the cards.....

it just seems to me he has trouble with certain things. And the experiment seemed to me to be a memory one. it kinda seems his short term memory isn't very good

Daniel definetly has some type of brain fart. I think he probably has problems relating to his own over exposure. Perhaps Dharma had picked up on Daniel's earlier experiments and replicated on the island. Note that Daniel's light beam appeared similar to the light that occurred when the hatch blew.

naomi calls the guy a "headcase." crew on the ship say "faraday can't even help himself." in his introductory scene we see him with his "caretaker," according to the hints on the "enhanced" episode. it's safe to say the poor guy is...touched. that being said, he's only on the island for two days, and we find out more about the stinking place and strange effects surrounding it than we have in three seasons. the only people that have any faith in the guy, it seems, are charlotte...and me. more faraday, please.

Present and past Faraday's are typically spacey science types. However, something tells me that Daniel fried his brain by being around too much readiation (even Des asked him whay he did not cover his head during the experiment). In Daniel's first flashback, he is sitting in a chair and crying while watching the 815 crash report. And it appeared that someone was caring for him. Almost like he is recovering from a mental breakdown.

How come Charlotte and Daniel seem to know what's going on and yet Frank wasn't told about it? I don't know about Miles. Charlotte is such a bitch too. I really like Frank.

Frank just seems to be the pilot and not interested in faradays experiments or the unusual stuff that happens on the island. although i think frank is interested in the pilot of 815

I just think it's strange that Daniel and Charlotte seem to both know what's going on but they don't bother to mention it to the pilot, who's most important to them getting back and forth!

Charlotte is more of a science type and is probably working with Daniel on the science issues. Frank is just the driver and is on a need to know basis. And yes, Charlotte is the ice queen!
More troubling is the apparent uncaring autitude of the freighter crew. Leaving Sayid and Des alone. No one cares who did/did not came back on the chopper. No comment about a dead body on the chopper. No worries about the radio being demolished. It seemed that the big order of the day was curling rope.

yeah, pretty strange that we get to see a whole bunch of action on the ship last episode without a peep about naomi. what the hell.

everyone on the frighter....we only talked to 4, the two when they landed, who had weird names if I recall from being from the states. and the doctor and George, the guy who died, and then the two handling the ropes... there is still the captain and Regina, and who knows who else....

this made me think of something. there's this ship, right? everyone from the chopper came from it, obviously. even naomi. however, during the scene in the empty office, our mysterious figure was hiring naomi for what seemed a clandestine operation, backed up by the four characters that we are being introduced to this season. is the rest of the crew oblivious to their mission? if so, what were THEIR orders? why do they think they are out in the middle of nowhere?

or are there two groups on the ship......

well it is a clandestine operation but you still need a full crew to run a freighter of that size... i think there are two factions working on the ship...those that run the ship and those that run The Economist's operation... it can probably maintain secrecy because Paik/Widmore/Abaddon are all tied in together and don't go looking for outside help aside from the freighter 4 and company to accomplish the mission...

My guess would be that Daniel was susceptible to memory loss due to daily exposure to the electromagnetic waves from his machine just like Desmond was exposed to the electromagnetism in the hatch for 3yrs. If anyone were to experience "side-effects" (memory loss/time travel) it would be these two.
Also I think Daniel was crying about the crash because subconsciously he knew someone on, or something about, the flight. When asked why he was upset he realized he couldn't remember, presumably due to his memory loss.

My thoughts on why he was crying is because if you remember at the end of the episode he wrote in his journal, "IF ANYTHING GOES WRONG DESMOND HUME IS MY CONSTANT" and he is crying subconsciously about Desmond dying and he thinks that Desmond can no longer be his constant. He says "I don't know" why I'm crying because of the memory loss. I hope that makes sense because it's all I can come up with.

Nope. Desmond was never on the plane. And would'nt Daniel make and awful waiter? "Um, let's see you..you..you had the um steak medium with..a..mushrooms? No? Hmmm...maybe..yeah..ok..yeah steak...

Daniel's having a catastrophic event that people who have brain damage can have for no apparent reason whatsoever. This reaction is a real and factual part of brain damage. The trigger could be anything.

It definitely seems to be something to do with not covering his head, because they made sure to point that out in the episode. So what about anyone else who was working in the hatch keying in the numbers - would they be affected a little? Like Michael?
