Apollo Revisted and a little something about Desmond.

OK. so ive discussed the connections with Apollo and lost many times, but i was reading about him in one of my mythology books and i came across something interesting. Apollo was also the god of shephards, being a god himself. But he was also linked with the wolf, even though his job was to protect the herd from the wolves. NOW shephard. Jacks last name. Does Apollo's job sound anything like jack's? He feels like its his duty to protect the 815rs (the herd) from the wolves (others, or freighties.) NOW, another thing about desmond. David Hume was a scottish philosopher. He shares the same last name as desmond. He was also an economist. Sayids gfs boss was an economist. Do you think that desmond could be the economist???He was also heavily influenced by the philosopher John Locke!!!

The only thing about that is that Apollo played many different roles and went by many names. When he was a shepherd for a time and was also a role of shepherd-god. IMO this doesn't have anything to do with Jack's character. interesting thoughts though.

So it will probably end in a showdown between Sayid and Des.

My thoughts on Des after Penny rescues the O6. Sayid is acting as a hitman killing everyone that Ben tells him to. Ben threatened to take the life of Widmores daughter so only fitting that since Keamy Widmores Mercenary killed Ben so called daughter that Sayid Ben's Mercenary will now attempt to kill Penny because he has convinced Sayid that all these ppl are connected to Nadias murder. So it will probably end in a showdown between Sayid and Des.

Wow! The Sayid and Des showdown would be an AMAZING story!! I hope that happens sometime this season! I just love the idea soooo much! haha.

Sorry disapointing you, but Sayid would never ever do this to Des or anybody else! He lost the love of his life (at least) 3 times (Nadia, Shannon, and Nadia again) and he knows how desperatly Des is in love with Penny...

Christian Shepard = all the christians' shepard = pope = man of faith
Maybe this is his dilemma: he should be a man of faith, but he chose the way of of sience?!?

One of the many twists the writers throw in and I think it's just another red herring! It is more of one of the themes rather than a solid clue of the plot in my opinion. I don't think that Des is the economist, however, I am beginning to think that perhaps Ben is setting Sayid up to kill Penny and that she is the economist. Mrs. Hawking said that Des was destined to be no greater than to push the button so I cannot believe he would be the economist. The writers had said that there were many clues in that episode. No doubt Sayid will be told a story of semi-truths by Ben and not really know who it is he is about to kill. Ben said he would kill Penny in exchange for the death of Alex and Charles Widmore breaking the rules and now we have Sayid out there with Ben's hit list. Not too hard to link them together. Don't overlook the obvious and try and make too much out of the running themes in the show! That's exactly what the writers want you to do so there is always a buzz going on about Lost! But, it is fun to speculate anyway!

All this talk of what someone would NEVER do, brings to mind the book by Jane Austen--Pride and Prejudice. A character professes that she can say positively that "I shall Never dance with Mr. Darcy!" ......Then, very shortly, she is doing exactly what she promised she would NEVER do!!! This happens over and over again with other characters, too. So all promises aside, who knows what Sayid will find himself doing--- like working for Ben, killing Penny, and the like. I would be very disappointed in Sayid if he does carry out that part of Ben's plan, but you see, Ben always has a plan!! He is the Zeus of our Lost story!! Who has the smarts to outwit Zeus?
