Desmond.....is Jacob?

Okay- so just watched tonights episode at my friend Staceys house, and heur son Justin had a really interesting theory....Desmond is acting like Jacob in the alt. Timeline! He is guiding the losties to where they need to be/ which seems to ne either the hospital or the police station! (BTW I'm I'm my phone so not typing so well) but anyway- isn't that what Jacob has done? Remember, Desmond was on that island for years with no MIB influence....he was saving the world! He is special! And now- he is getting the.losties together! I think Justin may be right! Desmond is the new Jacob!

My husband said the exact same thing while we were watching it.

In fact, he came up with a whole theory on ALL of it while we were watching it. He kept stopping the DVR to tell me.

What's weird is that *I* usually do that - he NEVER does that. But wow did he have some great insights tonight. I may end up posting some of them tomorrow if I can remember all of them, lol! :)

But he recognized the exact same things you did about Desmond playing "Jacob's" role in SW. I think that was an excellent observation by both of you! :)

Desmond is guiding people to their paths just like Eloise Hawking did with him. I am not so sure that he is the new Jacob. But, I see your point and you could very well be right.

I was also thinking about THIS aspect....but I was typing on my phone last night, and I didn't have the patience for this....It's always bothered me that Desmond and Aaron (Through Claire) had those shots. Why? They were important enough for them (Darlton) to devote some serious time to them....so what was that all about?

Okay, so go with me here.....what if- The Shots were to keep the MIB unaware that they exsisted? Claire the MIB could know about...but not Aaron. (For reasons still unknow, but there has been a lot of speculation about already) BUT....as for Desmond.

What if...again...Desmond is in fact "Jacob's loophole?"

Desmond has proven himself worthy of living in a Hatch and pushing a button for three years to "save the World." He did it because it was the right thing to do, AND OF HIS OWN FREE WILL, even though Kelvin betrayed him and everything ( yes Desmond WAS in a depression when we first met him- BUT it was John Locke who brought him out of it!) AND Desmond was never visited by the MIB while he was in the Hatch OR while he went out to get food from the Dharma Drop OR when he was on the Beach with the Losties! In Fact- I don't think Desmond has EVER come face to face with the MIB in any way, shape or form....until he saw Flocke. AM I right about that?

When Desmond and Flocke see each other for the first time....Desmond doesn't seem scared, upset, or uneasy with Flocke at all- even though he IS totally freakin' scary! BTW....Sayid is a little scary now too!...but I digress, But Flocke seems to get a little irritated with Desmond when Desmond says He's not scared of Flocke.."What is there to be scared of?" And then Flocke pushes him into the well- THEN he sends Sayid to kill Desmond! Because- FLOCKE CAN'T KILL DESMOND! Just like, Flocke couldn't kill Jacob, he cannot kill Desmond either! However....he made a BIG mistake there!

While Ben killed Jacob of his own free will (even though he was sort of manilupated to do so) - Sayid was TOLD to kill Desmond- and there in lies Mr. Flocke's big Problem.

So....what do we have here?

1. Shots that may or may not have to do with this.
2. Desmond has NEVER been visited by MIB or Smokie or the like before
3. He DID push a button for three years to save the World...of his OWN FREE WILL, without any influence from Jacob OR MIB OR Richard I might add!
4. Desmond is able to survive a HUGE EMP
5. Desmond is "acting" like Jacob in the SF
6. Desmond seems to be getting the Losties together for some reason
7. He is NOT afraid of Flocke or Sayid.
8. He is not afraid of Widmore anymore either!

To my knowledge....Jacob has not ever visited Desmond has he?

What do you think? I know there are holes in this- so please point them out...but be kind okay?

it was DESMOND that "brought" the Losties to the Island, remember?!

He didn't push the button on time- causing the EM Pulse, which caused the Plane to Crash on the Island!!!

are you sure because i thought it was jacob who did this , i thought that des just thought he did something to bring them here . in either case it is what jacob had planned all along .

Desmond was outside the Hatch fighting with Kelvin (where he accidently killed him....oops) Grabbed Kelvin's fail-safe key and ran back to the Swan, where he found the countdown timer had already hitr zero. SYSTEM FAILURE!! Those messages were going across the computer screen. He eventually stopped the system failure, although, his actions inadvertently released the electromagnetic charge that had built up during his absence from the Swan, which caused Oceanic Flight 815 to break up in mid-air and crash on the Island. WHICH Desmond found out when he and LOCKE were looking at the print out from The Pearl (or the Log from the Pearl...whatever)
Desmond put the dates together, and realized that HE was the reason that 815 Crashed on the Island!

I have always seen Desmond as his own man, an outsider type character compared to how the others have their own groups, even though he was on the beach with the oceanic lot, he was really just focused on Charlie and his flashforwards relating to him.

If my idea of Jacob being from the future would put in the source of knowing about the system failure and Jacob selecting his candates this way. Doubtful though.

If my idea of Jacob being from the future would put in the source of knowing about the system failure and Jacob selecting his candates this way. Doubtful though.

Jack was running the steps and hurt his ankle I think? Desmond said to lift it up, but it wasn't clear to Jack what he meant. Desmond had to repeat it and said something like, "your ankle, lift it up".

Oh I see what you are saying. but i think since MIB was with jacob at the point of his death he knows who Jacob had chosen as candidates. And unless jacob lied to Ilana we know who the last 6 candidates are or were.

Ooohhhh..... I get it. But, I don't think he would be able to read/ scan Jacobs......otherwise why would they speak out loud to. One another?
