So..... how come the rabbit in the film from the DI, physically time traveled, (2 #15 rabbits "don't let them see each other!!!"). But the humans are only mind tripping???

I have the same question Papa. I don't know, but the tape seemed to have bad special effects and looked liked the taped was spliced like a technique out I dream of Jaennie. matbe it was a hoax.

The rabbit is the subject of a DHARMA experiment. Perhaps DHARMA have done an experiment on the rabbit which takes the mind tripping one step further?

I suppose it is possible that something diffrent was going on in the video.
I cannot remember if they explained which station was doing the time travel experiments. Maybe it wasn't teh same one that the rabbit video is from

Hey, I just thought of something. Maybe that's what Walt is doing. Time tripping physically. Maybe that's how he keeps showing himself to Locke!!??!!

Oooh I like this. Walt was special, even before he got to the island. Maybe Walt, in a unique way, can take Des's mind-only time traveling a step further somehow.

Yeah, I reckon we're only at the start of what's really going on here with 'The Constant' - it's only a taste of what's to come!

You could even bring Jacob and his traveling cottage into this idea!?!

Robo42- I can assure you it wasn't a hoax, they've made referrals to it on the offical podcasts.
Papatini- Walt was off the island for awhile, and then came back, and time moves faster OFF island then on it(Faraday's rocket experiment in 4.03-The Economist) so what seemed like 50 or so days to Locke, was more then that for Walt, witch is why he's "Taller ghost Walt".

Yea, If walts off the island he is "growing" at a different time scale, but that does'nt explain his apperance and disapperance where time travel would. The time travel would even explain his "growing". And it would also explain the traveling cottage and Jacob being in the rocking chair without being seen. And by the way, the clock being 31 minuts off may not be the truth. It could be 23 hrs and 29 min. And the 108 min that they had to enter the #'s could be days or weeks in the real world. The differance between mind trippin or body surfin opens up many possible explanations for events on the island.

dharma possibly invented a time machine, but they can't edit a video tape better than that? it makes no sense.
there was only one eloise so whatever dharma is doing, it seems to be different than what dan was doing regarding time travel. dan was traveling via consciousness, and if that dharma tape it to be believed they were physically traveling a la "back to the future", where michael j. fox was able to observe himself in the past.

maybe they accidently xeroxed it, like what happened to Juliette (the xerox machine effect from smokey)
just a silly thought, it's been a long day, and tomorrow's going to be longer.

i think robo meant a hoax as a hoax within the show - like dharma had faked it? maybe i am wrong!
i think it could be to do with an unperfected experiment.

That's interesting. It is kind of the same way companies send a product to market before all the lab test are completed and verified. They pick up the mistake in recalls. It is unofficially called field testing. The bonus is that it allows the company to be the first to market and patent the product. Perhaps the Tunisian polar bear be a result of field testing.

Any ideas as to what determines past or future time travel?? Earlier Des was mind tripping to the future then doing things to change outcomes, like saving charlie.
Now Des appearse to only be going to the past, like 1996. I wonder what determines future or past tripping????????

ok found you.papatini u kept me awake by pointing out the orchid station incident lol great observation and it just adds so much fuel to the fire that is trying to work out lost. candle or whatever his name is did produce another rabbit and that totaly different to what happened to eloise. every time i think i'm getting a handle on this show, pow!! slapped down to the floor lol keep up the good work, cheers

Sorry to cause you to lose sleep but I'm glad you didn't think the observations were stupid. So far we've seen rabbit #15, Charlie (dead), Walt, and Jacob with his house and Christian physically traveling through time. Des, Eloise, and the radio guy only traveled mentally. We have'nt seen Daniel travel in time, YET. No sense as to forward or backward in time. Eloise went forward but Des went backward. Then later he went forward. Who knows where it's all going to end up!!? But it has something to do with 4 toed giants************

Best quote of tonight's show: As Ben is chowing down on a rabbit that Locke has just cooked for him: "This didn't by chance have a number on it, did it?"

I've seen this elsewhere but not sure where:
1996 des lands on island during boat race
Island on constant 108 minute loop, keeping it in 1996
des doesnt push the buttons in time, causing the island to catch up to present time, allowing him to see the past. then turns the key allowing him to see the future. Or maybe vice versa, heck I dont know!

That was part of a really elaborate theory that someone had posted a link to that was just way too far-fetched to be feasible. It had some really interesting ideas, but then it claimed it had the answers to everything (which is of course impossible at this point in the show) and started chopping off corners to make things fit so to say.
