I have been rewatching the seasons ( man i have said that alot) Well Claire was really mean to Charlie and all he wanted to do was keep her and the baby safe I know some people did not like him but hey he sure had some great lines! I just don't understand why no one is talking about him no one misses him?

It does seem odd that he basically sacrificed himself to save everyone and no one seems to be mourning him. Hurley and Claire seemed to move on pretty fast.

Wasn't it announced that Charlie would be returning to the show? I remember reading that this was the reason that Dominic Monaghan (the guy who plays him) has still been actively doing Lost publicity events even though his character was killed off almost a year ago lol, since that kind of stuff usually doesn't happen in Hollywood. Can anyone find a link confirming this?

However, while I do think that it is quite possible that Charlie will turn out to be alive or at least return to the show in some way, I don't think there is anything unusual about how the Oceanic survivors are mourning him and I think people are over-analyzing this. While it is true that Charlie was the most beloved of the characters who've been killed off so far, he definately wasn't the first. Eko, Libby, Ana Lucia, Shannon, and others I'm probably forgetting were pretty significant characters who meant a lot to the people on the show and none of them got any more "mourning time" than Charlie did. This is an extremely fast moving show and we've been thrown huge plot developments in every episode this season. Don't forget that the writers were squeezed for time and attempted to fit 20+ episodes of material into only 8 episodes as people have mentioned before. Also, don't forget that it's only been what, two or three months that the survivors have been on the island? A whole hell of a lot has happened and there's not a lot of time to sit around and mourn about any of it. These people have all gone through extreme trauma almost every single day, and after a while that has a numbing effect on you, particularly when you're still trying to survive on a day-to-day basis. So I think the fact that we don't see more of Claire mourning Charlie is 1. because the writers assume that we get the point and are spending time on more important things and 2. because Claire doesn't exactly have much time to mourn because she's raising her child on an island where she isn't even sure if she'll be able to survive from the night. Again, don't get me wrong, this doesn't mean I don't think Charlie will return!

On a side note, while I was searching for the interview where I thought I saw them say Charlie was coming back I found this story which I thought was pretty funny: http://www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/naked%20mermaids%20wash%20up%20on%20lost%20set

me too i hope he is not gone. even if we have him around as a ghost i really don't belive he is died Hurley did take it harder then everyone else. I mean comeone Jack & kate took Naoie's ( how ever you spell it) death harder then Charlies. After all Chalie is the whole reason they all have visitors on the island anyways.

Haha I don't think you even need to state your position on this one Rip-charlie, you could pretty much just post a blank reply and we would all know where you stand ;)

We did see his body when he was dead. He was still in that room with the switch he had to turn off and his body was just floating around after he drowned. It is very unlikely that he is still alive. Unless he got out through the hole in the window that patchy blasted open with the grenade....and then somehow he got to the surface and someone (possibly someone on the freighter??) found him and saved him. But that theory is highly unlikely as the freighter is far from the island and the looking glass was apparently pretty close to the island, but we didn't see how far he and Des had to row to it. So I guess that is possible. He could perhaps be on the freighter somewhere. Would be very awesome if that was so.

As far as the OP's question, I think that Claire did love Charlie. She might not have at first, especially when he was still on the drugs and did all that crazy stuff like when he took Aaron..but I think she did love him. She even kissed him before he went to the looking glass and she looked liked she was really into, you know?

Maybe the writers don't want to show them mourning Charlie so the viewers don't think about Charlie as much, so that they can bring him back later and make it a bigger surprise. He hasn't appeared on the show since Hurley saw him in the nuthouse...and that was 4 or 5 episodes ago.

With the new season starting and a lot of stuff to deal out I don't find it surprising that Charlie isn't being mentioned. He's dead, time to move on. Boone, Shannon and Eko had the same fates IMO.

Charlie played a major role in the first episode of the new season where he confirmed that he was dead and since then the new episodes have been dealing with new characters and plot development. The Losties in general haven't been heard from much.

Quite frankly the show has moved on after Charlie- as it should.

Hell, we're hearing and seeing more of Charlie than we are of some of the Losties who are still alive! I feel like we haven't seen Sun or Jin at all this season, and Bernard and Rose...forget it, are they still even on the island? No one complained when Hurley was completely over Libby three days after she died or when Sayid was over Shannon, why is Charlie any different? Next people are going to start complaining that we don't see enough of the Losties sleeping or taking bathroom breaks

No body no death? Man, you swim down there and get it.

But I'd like to think they had a special bond on the island, even if it was for a short time. Too much going on to really focus on dead characters, they never really did anyway.

Exactly what I have been saying. Although I think he could of easily avoided death by simply runnin out of the room instead of runnin up to the door slamming it shut and locking it. He could of takin the same time and energy of running out of the room closing the door and turning the wheel lock and been safe.

How long has anyone mourned over the many deaths of other losties? Not very long, right? We need to move the story along, right? The occasional death is a constant on this island, so you may briefly mourn but move on to your primary task, as Sawyer would say, "Survivin".

I think everyone is indeed dead that is suppose to be dead except for the couple that got bit by the spiders, That is the only two that they alluded to as being alive. I think that the dead bodies play a significant role, I've been saying Jacob was able to take the form of the dead bodies to minipulate people to do he wants for the good of the island.
All women don't really like men anyway, they just use us. So Claire of course she isn't showing any emotion. Just kidding. I'm not sure why they would have Claire be so unemotional over Charlie?

they not have had enough screen time for claire to be properly mourning charlie.

perhaps when the have another episode about claire, a few more sobs will happen.
maybe she will find the ring or something.

the ring is clearly charlies, who else is going to have a ring that looks like it was bought at a megadeath concert.

She should pay proper tribute to him and throw it into the fiery pits of mount doom!

On another note...I reckon the only reason we haven't seen more minutes of Charlie mourning is because it would be a boring-ass waste of an already-precious 40-odd minutes! I mean, would you rather see something you know is probably happening as far as the characters go, or would you rather see the usual "holy ****! That was mental!" stuff Lost is famous for? I just reckon the writers have a lot more stuff to cram in and the odd, occasional nod to Charlie's sacrifice should satisfy the needs of the punters.

Besides...they're still stranded on a crazy island in pretty grave danger...got a lot of other stuff to worry about!
