Have seen this twice , but long ago.
I told myself I was going to re-watch it all after the final episode but I guess I got itchy with the off week.
Anyway, some impressions:
How could you not love Jack after S1. In the pilot he goes nuts helping everyone while he has a huge gash on his side. Jack believes in Kate from the get-go.
Hurley hasn't changed a bit.
Boone was a mook. Shannon really sucked ass.
Charlie just goes around aimlessly, I loved that.
Sawyer is so badass and mysterious. The opening shot of him lighting the cig was great.
The real John Locke was my favorite character.
I really miss Walt. and Vincent.. and Charlie...
I really really LOVE Lost...

I really love lost too. I miss little Walt. I love how Jin and Sun have evolved. Sawyer was bad ass when the polar bear was charging straight at them and he just stands there waiting while everyone else scatters. Sawyer is GORGEOUS *sigh*

dun dununa dun dunana dun dunana na na na na, repeat...awesomeness.
Good dose of reminiscing, tc. I know many of us will be doing the same, time and time again.
Not long ago I watched the episode where they first break into the Swan (can't remember the name) and meet Desmond. To me, this was the first real break into a mystery revealed (the sealed hatch with lone window), that takes you to an even deeper mystery. When this part happened, I became really hooked into the show... which carried me on until I petered out with the start of Season 4.
I can so relate to what you said, the perception of the characters after all of this development. It's just so amazingly cool.
Cuse has admitted we won't get any definitive answers... which means, even more incentive to go back to older episodes and watch again, looking for clues or just revisiting old familiar faces that we've come to enjoy so much.
*sigh*

The Pilot episode was the best Pilot episode ever made on tv, in my opinion! I have never seen anything so captivating and well-made on tv, and I was hooked from the moment I saw it! And Jack was fantastic in season 1 - it was in season 3 he started becoming an arsehole! Pretty much after the others took him. Season 1 is always the season that we're gonna watch the most because even if you intend to watch the entire show all the way through all over again, you're most likely to watch season 1 more than any!

At this rate i think i'll get through s1-s5 by the time the next epi airs. I just watched 'raised by another', wow, what a prescient episdode. Amazing. Makes you rethink the importance of Aaron to the Finale.
And btw, the look that ethan gives to claire at the end of that is freaky as hell. that guy plays psycho like no other.
Almost seems like emile deravin lost her acting chops since s1. Either that or the writing is worse... can't decide. Still love s6 though, not knocking it. Just sayin.

I really miss Walt. and Vincent..
...
I miss Walt and Vincent too. The fact that the whole Walt storyline has just been dropped really bothers me. So much time went into him and Vincent in the first seasons that it's not right to leave it how it is.
Walt and Vincent haven't seen each other since Walt left on the raft and Vincent swam after him, which in my opinion is THE best scene ever on this show. It's the only one that I actually shed a tear at.
For them to just drop a what would be amazing Walt/Vincent reunion and the whole storyline makes me mad.
It's probably the one and only thing that I really have a problem with the show about.

No Charlie, but you may actually have me on the Rose and Bernard. I know I got emotional but I'm not sure if I actually shed a tear. Them reuniting would probably be the second best moment. The look on Bernard's face right before he hugs her is priceless.

I found another one. Don't know if I shed a tear the first time I saw it, probably just got choked up, but this time around I nearly started bawling when Jin reunites with his dad after he'd gone astray. The father-son stuff always gets me. I think I've gone soft. Totally.

exactly, simple answers. really outstanding stuff. so much mystery.
one thing, the black smoke is very different. They made it better though. and funny they could scare it off with a stick of dynamite.

yes, good point. Lot of noise in a stick of TNT. Thanks.
The sounds are different though. I love how they correlate to Locke's office equipment at one point in s1. Sounds kind of like a train to me most of the time.

Not sure why I like collecting stuff. It is easier to pop the dvd in than to have it streaming on line, at least for me. But my internet connection is not always that good either. I'm the same with books. Could I read 'em for free at the library or online? Sure, but not the same as having it on my bookshelf. :)

I guess I just save my money for specific things and DVDs never seem to make the list. Then again, sometimes I just buy something so that the producers will have more money and hopefully make more of whatever it is I like. That's usually my reason for buying a particular book.

I can't stand it when you buy a DVD set and then find out about a year later, they've released another with more stuff in it worth seeing. Feels like a bit of a rip-off.
The streaming is OK from Hulu and ABC... can't watch it in HD without it getting choppy, though (running wireless only). It was fine to get caught up on episodes I had missed, but to really watch it I'm going to have to break down and get the sets. At least the episodes will be streamed until the end of 2010. Somewhere between now and then I'm sure there will be a few deals out there. I've not quite gotten my girlfriend into the series... yet. But I have a feeling she'll be wanting to see it eventually and that'll mean having to get the DVD's. ;)

Having the DVD sets has been great. I havent used s1-3 personally until now, except season 4 which i completely missed on tv due to life situation stuff. I rewatched s5 before s6 arrived.
I lent s1-4 to a coworker and his gf a year back. He watched them all quickly and loved Sawyer and the mysteries and was always coming and asking questions. He is an un-educated kitchen worker from Costa Rica and his gf barely spoke english. But he is smart though and he loved it. They watched with the spanish subtitles. When s5 came around he wouldn't watch them.
He couldn't stand the idea of having to wait a week between every episode. He was going to wait for the dvd.
True story.
I love the DVDs.
I also gave him my old set of golf clubs and taught him golf. Now he's hooked on that too. Two of my favorite things.

I am rewatching personally, and am airing some thoughts here in general discussion. I am on to s2 now. I want to write my thoughts down somewhere I guess. I hope you guys don't mind.
One thing I have to say is that Mr. Eko is one of my favorites. I think his character arc and the way they wrote and explained his story is very satisfying. He was good. He was redeemed.
Lots of folks mention that TPTB had planned to keep him on but the actor needed off the show. I have to wonder about that and would have loved to have him continue on in the story. He really is badass with the bible stick.

One thing that I've picked up since watching s1-4 recently is how great a character Jin is. Jin, along with Hurley, may be one of the purest characters. He was kind of douche-y to Sun, but thats cultural, also she cheated on him and lied to him. Jin worked for Sun's evil pops, but he did what he could to always do the right thing. He never killed anyone, he never beat Sun. I think Jin is the candidate of the Kwons...
To greeneggs: there were very few episodes that I wouldn't recommend. I personally love the Hurley centrics. Anything on Desmond is important. There is a lot to pick up from s1-3 as far as end game is concerned, but it really heats up in s4. Lots of clues.
If you don't have time to watch them all, which unfortunately I do right now, then I would watch the last three episodes of every season. The lead up episode and the finales are always the best.
