I did not see a search function for the forums so I am not sure if this has been asked....
With all the deliborate thought and planning that the writers put into names and referances they put in. So Henry Gale was Ben's Alias.. and also the name of Dorothy's uncle in the Wizard of Oz. Is there any connection?

The only connection is that the character of Henry Gale in Lost also was in a hot-air balloon. Just about everyone's name on the show is an allusion to a real life person, and I think it's pretty commonly agreed that these are all just easter eggs.

There are a few references to The Wizard of Oz as well as countless other movies and books. One that comes to mind is the man behind the curtain comment.

The writers put in several Wizard of Oz references. At one point Locke calls Ben the "man behind the curtain" a direct reference to the wizard in the Wizard of Oz. I don't know if these are merely pop-culture references meant as Easter Eggs or if in fact there is a deeper meaning behind the names and all the references. I'm sure if you looked deeply enough you could find tons of significance behind all of them. For example, The wizard was the man behind the curtain and he was also a complete fraud...does that mean the same thing is true for Ben and he's not really the one calling the shots?

Yeah....i think easter eggs...many literary, music and religious references....AND if we end up finding out that 815 was sucked into a tornado....dropped into "land of the others"....(on top of the wicked witch of the island ???? maybe Ben in drag...lol)....I would kick some arse....

Ladies and gentleman, i now declaire Robo42 "The Wozard of LOST!" hehe
815 Wasn't sucked into a tornado, it was sucked in by a HATCH.
I agree that the Henry Gale thing is one of many easter eggs, but i think some of them, like "The man behind the Curtain" have meaning to them.
