I found it interesting last week that the helicopter pilot, Frank, gave Sayid his radio in exchange for Sayid's gun. What does Frank think he needs a gun for if he's back on the ship where his "co-workers" are? He obviously doesn't feel safe there. The other 3 from the helicopter expedition, Daniel, Miles and Charlotte, did have guns. It makes me think that Frank's role is very different than the other 3. This might further support the theory that maybe Frank is Ben's spy.

Yeah I definitely think Frank has a different agenda from the other three. He seems to be the calmest of them all and seems to know more than he's letting on. Also wasn't he supposed to be the pilot for 815? It sounds like he may be far more connected than we realize...

Well in an interview the actor that plays Frank, Jeff Fahey, said that this wasn't Franks first time on an island so he may have a huge connection to all this. Can you say Jacob!

yep, was supposed to be the pilot, why he wasn't, we may never know...
But back to the gun.... Frank only wanted the gun from Syaid because Syaid had the gun.... not for any other reason other than that...Frank is a crew member, and maybe he thinks that he'll get the gun from Syaid, maybe to protect hie crewmates.....

Yeah, this is the impression I had. I felt like Frank didn't feel like he needed the gun, he would just feel better if Sayid didn't have one.
And Sayid probably gave it up so easy because he knows he can probably get it back from Frank in a heartbeat.

I agree. I think Frank just wanted the gun out of Sayid's hands. Maybe to protect Sayid from himself by not lteeing him use it on someone on the boat.

maybe it was more a trust issue rather than frank wanting a gun?

I think Frank wanted the gun from Sayid just for the safety of everyone, including Sayid. I think Sayid gave up the gun easily because no one was really hostile towards him and a handgun with limited ammo would not be of much use on that ship. Also, don't discount the fact that Sayid may have another, more concealed, weapon.

I think he's hiding a pea shooter in his hair.

And, Sayid could have given Frank a gun without any bullets in it. He was left alone on the ship's deck for a while and could have easily emptied the clip. Plus, Desmond's rifle is evidently still on the helicopter. I'm sure it has significantly more stopping power than the automatic pistol if it comes to that on the ship.
