Obviosuly im not going to give you any spoilers. Two reasons (1) Im not a deuchebag who spends hours of time searching for spoilers online. (2) I am not part of the cast of lost, so frankly I dont know anything to spoil. I want to discuss what dictates a spoiler and why people are so damn anal about it. I would like to start things off by saying I can completely understand why people dont want to know before hand who dies, the surprising twists, and whats going to happen next(Major plot points). For obvious reasons no one wants a show runied right? Here comes my beef on spoilers. Why do people consider those 30 second promos(released by ABC and TPTB) to be spoilers? How could they be spoilers? They are ment to be seen as like a promo for the upcoming episode. I have seen every promo so far this season and I will say honestly that they spoil absolutley nothing. Those promos aint some grainy hand held camera filmed by some tourist visiting hawaii. These are calculated scenes giving to us by TPTB. Who are we to say these are spoilers? TPTB dont think they are, because if they did they wouldnt be released right on schedule every week. My second beef. How the hell does an episode summary for an upcoming episode dictate a spoiler? This honestly makes me laugh real hard inside. Who do you think writes these episode summarys? TPTB releases the episode summarys in a way in which nothing ever gets spolied. " Lockes motives are finally explained" How could I possibly know this? Did the C.I.A. send me this info? Did a crazed fan kidnap damon linedolf for this info? LOL No idiot, I just pressed info on my cox controller . LOL only kidding. Im now throwing my contoller away cause it just runied lost for me. My third and last beef. The Smoke Monster and Jacobs episode. I know I will get a lot of **** for saying this but hey Im trying to prove a point. If you dont know by now that this upcoming episode is jacob and m.i.b centric then you are definelty dumb or slow..... lol or blind. JK to the fans who only watch the show and dont own a computer, or a library card, or have friends or are clinically alive. Sorry Again if you take offence. Serisouly though TPTB released press release info months ago saying That episode 15 will be a M.I.B and Jacob centric. At the end of last weeks episode the trailer even implys that the next weeks ep is about them. The TPTB released this info on purpose. They wanted us to know that they will indeed show us the history of these guys. I just dont understand how info given to us by TPTB could be confused as spoliers. It just seems people have taken this spoiler thing a little to far. My last point, people all the time comment on those promos(previewing next weeks episode) shown to us by abc at the end of the episode. No one ever claims these are spoilers. So how is a promo for next weeks ep considered a spoiler???? Sounds like a double standard when it comes to spoilers. I guess its only considered a spoiler if some lost internet fan says so.

LOL!...Too Funny!

To the OP:

I completely agree with your assessments and do not agree with the spoiler policy at all. However, those are the rules of this forum. This isn't a democracy - it's a message forum. Policy dictates. We can either play by the rules or leave. I choose to play by the rules.

For the record, I used to frequent a spoiler board for Survivor (I don't anymore, and actually no longer wish to be spoiled - I only watch 1 or 2 shows and I enjoy being surprised). My bigger gripe about THIS forum isn't the rule about "minor spoilers", it's the fact that when I click "New Posts", SPOILERS ARE INCLUDED. AARRGH!!! *THAT* is insane to me! :) And it's easily fixable, so not sure why it's included in that search query.

They have shown some things that I would consider "spoilerish" in the promos.

One thing for example was the episode in which Flocke pushed Desmond into the well.

In the promo right after the show, they showed he was alive and well in there.

Given that, I do agree with you. I think anything released/allowed by TPTB should be open for discussion, that being promos/interviews/podcasts, etc. However the rules are the rules and we should stick to them.

we had a big thing about this before this season got going to decide what was and wasn't spoilers back and forth it went until we came to pretty much consensus of what we could do -so it was quite democratic- so we have minor spoilers for the stuff you discuss, which is not really spoilers to most, but makes it easy for the real purists to avoid any pre knowledge of anything to mess up their possibilities - the previews are sometimes bad so many try to turn off before they come on after the show - to each his own and the sections are set up for that
as a matter of fact I bet this thread is moving as I reply:eek:

Spoiler loophole:
If a I had bootlegged lost season 6 dvd, could I talk about the special features?
If I had a leaked lost finale but it only contained the three alternate endings, not any of the show it self, could I talk about the fake endings?

Theres a chinese riddle for you!!!

To be quite honest, what was defined as a spoiler really wasn't an issue until this final season. A lot of forum members began expressing their concern as to some of the content that was posted so we had a discussion about it and the concensus was that anything unaired on the show should be considered a spoiler and should only be posted in the spoiler section. That seemed like a hard line that we could draw and it didn't leave any grey areas. That makes understanding what a spoiler is defined as a lot easier for all of the forum members as well as the mods. The three other Lost forums that I am a member of use the exact same criteria for defining what a spoiler is and immediately ban members if that line is crossed. We don't do that here. If a spoiler is posted, I am usually the one to delete it and I send a PM to the member who posted it and remind them of the spoiler policy.

I respect your right to voice your opinions very much, Andrew, but with only 3 weeks left, my hope is that we can make it through having as little conflict on the forum as possible. Most if not all of the podcasts, interviews, clips of upcoming episodes, titles and centricities get posted in the minor spoilers section so it's all there for your enjoyment. I just ask that everyone continue to respect the right of those forum members who don't want to have any prior knowledge of upcoming episodes and keep the posts on the rest of the forum spoiler free....for the last 3 weeks. :)

. They wanted us to know that they will indeed show us the history of these guys.

oh no, thats it, you have spoiled it for me now i'm gonna cry.lol (only kidding)

Andrew, I didn't read your entire post before I commented but thanks to Dogen highlighting the section above, that is why I have moved your post to the minor spoiler section.

I doubt I would have had such patience with my original reply had I read your entire post before I responded. Lesson learned.

A lot of members on this forum, who are not dumb, slow or blind, choose not to be spoiled with upcoming episode information. It is one thing to accidentally post spoiler information about upcoming episode titles or centricities out of ignorance of the spoiler policy but it is another thing entirely to know the forum policy and do it anyway. I am asking you as nicely as possible to respect the other members and the rules of this forum please. We have 3 weeks left, Andrew, and things have been wonderfully peaceful lately. It would be great if we could ride out the remainder of this show on a high note. :)
