the smoke monster

i'v been rewatching lost(i know, what a geek), and i have gotten a pretty good theory about the identity of our smoky friend. first of all, i think it is mechanical. all the noises, but also the light it uses when attacking boone. i also think that the whistle noise it makes is a signal, which leads me to my next thing, there are probably several smokies. its also pretty obvious that it lives under ground, what with almost dragging locke into a hole and whenever it appears the ground explodes. i also thought it was strange that the first season it would appear every three shows, but now it seams to be letting go. i believe its probably controled by dharma, or jacob, because it seems to be in the way whenever the losties are about to make a step forward. when they are about to open the hatch for example.
i have no idea realy, so tell me what you think!

the smoke monster has been discussed before lol i think the jury is out on exactly what it is,personally i dnt go past the french chick daniele saying it is a security system. as for how it works or what it is or who controls it, i have long ago given up guessing :)

My personal theory is that the smoke "monster" is actually the souls of the people that died on the island (like the Dharma folks, etc.) and have not been able to escape due to the time/space infuences. It struck me when Mr. Echo came face to face with it. It looked very ethereal looking...seemed like it was made up of many faces. It envokes fear because it cannot leave. It was what grabbed Locke by the ankle and dragged him. As for the explosions and mechanical noises....the jury is still out.

yeah, i'm getting pretty annoyed that we haven't seen smokey since i think that episode where it ran into the force field.
i Hope they make another episode revealing some more concerning this thing soon.
