Frozen Donkey Wheel aka FDW

Was watching season 4, part of, while nursing a migraine yesterday and wondered if the comparasons have been discussed with Micheal freezing the battery on the bomb in the frieghter to why the donkey wheel is frozen.

On Across the sea, it doesn't look that cold down there during the conversation between Mib and Mother but the emphasis statement is made by John that the elevator takes them down a looong way. So are we talking a big build over the original dig? Linus is seen climbing down the well structure and breaking the ice to access the chamber and I really should go back and rewatch the scene where the fella dies at the dharma as they did the x ray.

My conclusion is still as Mib opened the wee crack in the wall to show Mother it started a chain reaction causing the cave in and the accident in the settlement.

I think the FDW was frozen to keep the energy at bay (I think this was discussed in another thread, but don't know which one.)
Freezing the battery kept it from working. I think there is a parallel here but only that freezing the energy source (the light and the battery) keeps it from working or doing its thing.

Or MIB left a "door" open for Smokie to come out and once out Smokie filled it in. One less opening to put Smokie back.
Of course this is if you believe "Mother" isn't Smokie.
But then again he came out of the lit waterway afterwards, so Idk :)
