Ok.. Season 1, episode 1 we were introduced to the smoke monster. Is the smoke monster on vacation? I don't believe we have seen it since Echo's death in season 3. All these new people on the island and everyone is out and about in the jungle and no smoke monster? Lock made reference to it a few episodes ago, but thats about it.. It's like WTF lol...

I think we last saw it when Juliet and Kate were handcuffed to each other out in the jungle and it took pictures(???) of Juliet.

Oh ya I forgot about that.. It just seems like the smoke monster is a dead issue now after being a huge part of the show.

No no no no no. The producers have stated that "we have seen the Monster even though we didn't know we were looking at it" and a short time later released a statement that the "Monster can take on human form."
It is not gone. In fact, I believe (as do other like Bunnydixon) that we saw it in last night's episode in the form of Harper talking to Juliet in the jungle.
The Monster is still very much a part of the show and likely a very integral part of the plot.

I believe we saw the smoke monster last night when Harper appeared to Juliet and Jack in the middle of the "whispering clearing."
I also think that the gray sand or gravel or dust or whatever it was the Locke was fiddling with when he was looking for Jacob's cabin is the smoke monster in some inert state.

YES!!!! I think that Jacob may even be old smoky...i think that it can transform into a horse(kate)....ana lucia(dead on beach)....hurleys imaginary friend......harper.....ekos brother....and i think that the pictures are not being taken of whoever but are a look into the life and experiences of that person.....ex...with eko....we saw flashbacks of war, his drug dealing, he and his bro as kids...etc....maybe thats how it draws its info from people
Harper was the monster duh.

so is the smoke monster ben's messenger?
not sure about the gray sand, but your theory seems as good as anything right now.

so is the smoke monster ben's messenger?
I would say that Ben is the smoke monster's messenger/errand boy. It is the smoke monster's island that Ben is protecting now and in the past by the insurrection against the Dharma initiative.
Could Annie have been a form that the smoke monster took i.e.an "imaginary" friend/playmate.

The horse, dead people, etc. are all figments of the imagination.
And the monster isn't Ben's messenger, the others don't even know
it exists, bar Juliet. And that was the real Harper that came to Juliet.
But the monster and Jacob are aligned. And this sometimes
triggers these hallucinations, Yemi forexample.
Both are formed by persons
subconscious so to speak, and both can do incredible things.
But its purpose is clear, and it is a messenger of faith.
When Locke first sees it, all is good and it doesn't harm him, same with Eko.
It attacks them both the second time it sees them, as they have strayed
from their chosen path,or in Eko's case, failed completely.
Harper said Ben is exactly where he wants to be, and that's home.
He can make contact with his people there. How is yet to be seen,
but it can't be that hard, especially with what he is capable of.

You sure about that? Seems you have fact and opinion a bit muddled.

I don't think this is true. Yes, the monster can take other forms but we also know the others can move in and out of parts of the jungle at the blink of an eye from the first two seasons.

I think Harper was some kind of astral projection.

The horse... all figments of the imagination.
The same horse was seen by both Sawyer and Kate at the same time though. IMO that doesn't fall under a figment of imagination.

Yeah, I'm not doubting that the smoke monster was Harper at all.... In fact I kept waiting for Juliet to tell Jack that Harper was really dead. (you know cause it seems like the monster likes to come in the form of a dead person) Come to think about it, has anyone seen her in th mix with the others anytime before?
