when ben opens the door to let juliet in for the 'dinner party', there seems to be a large portrait on the wall behind him of a woman with blonde hair. could this be the 'her' that harper refers to?

I think the "she" you are referring to is Ben's childhood friend that he was so close to growing up on the island as a child. What was her name? Beth? I think???:confused:

Yes, I thought "she" meant Ben's friend. I think her name was Annie.

I thought "she" was possibly Ben's mom. Ben did see her, but now I'm liking your theory more. I don't think the therapist would have known anything about Ben's mom, unless she's old like Richard.

yes, i am not 100% it was annie on account of the brown hair. but as i mentioned on another thread, if annie survived the purge she could easily have altered her image. however, his mother was blonde so she is also a possibility.

how do i do screenshots as the portrait is pretty interesting (to me at least!).

If any one has a screen shot of Ben's Mom and one of Juliet to compare that would be cool.I'm pretty sure Harper was referring to Juliet looking like Ben's mom,they really do look alike.

it could be annie, i was reading on lostpedia about her and here is a quote."On the DVD commentary track for "The Man Behind the Curtain" Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse describe Annie as being of "seismic" importance to Lost."

Good question. who is this "She" Could be His childhood crush. But she wasn't blonde though.

I believe it was a portrait of his mother. I know they've shown it in other episodes.

Ooh I could barely see it when I watched it cos I watched it on the computer, but that's really interesting! If it is his mother Juliet's supposed to be like, and it seems to be, then what about Annie?

yeah i assumed that Harper was referring to Ben's mother and she would've known about Ben's mother from possible therapy sessions and from the portrait(s) ....and perhaps she has a file on ben as well, or at least ben's father, so then maybe she knows all about what happened to ben's mother.... I think the loss of his mother would cause a lot more of these crazy psychological problems in Ben than would the loss of his childhood friend Annie, though I know she is supposed to be very important, Juliet looks like Ben's mom and he has serious abandonment/possessive issues....

yeah...i think so....his dad was such an SOB that he probably dreamed of his mom all of those years and she is some obsession of his....Benny Boy really has some issues but he hides them well

Ben did see his mom, in the episode. the man behind the curtain....after he hears his drunk dad yelling at the other guy about gun fire with hostiles....younger ben see's his mom in the window...he then looks at the picture next to his bed of his parents then looks to window again, and she was gone....he then runs out to the pillons where she stops him from running into the secruity wall...so just like Jack has been able to see his Dad, and Ecko his brother, and others have been able to see people in their lives....the Island brought Ben his Mom, and it was seeing her after hearing his dad tell him he killed her that Ben began to switch over to the Hostiles side and thus committed the Purge (gassing of his fellow DI people).

i think that portrait is his mother and i would say harper was referring to his mother after seeing the wavy hair.

thanks for putting pics of it up jacks :D

i would like to think that even though ben never met his mother, his father would tell him all bout her and show him pictures. otherwise that would be pretty harsh!
